2020 Aconcagua Pinot Noir, Montes Alpha

    £1475

The vines only require minimal work with the canopy, which enables the growers to obtain healthy grapes with good balance at harvest time. Yields vary between 7,000 and 8,000 kilograms per hectare. The proximity of the vineyards to the Pacific coast endows the wine with tremendous freshness, minerality, and cool climate typicity. Head winemaker Rafael Urrejola has spent a great deal of time understanding the diversity of Chile’s vineyard sites; the result is the emblematic TH – ‘Terroir Hunter’ range.

This Sauvignon Blanc from Leyda Valley has enticing aromas of citrus fruit, lime and mandarin that are underpinned by spicy notes of blackcurrant leaf, green chilli pepper and chalk. This is a vibrant and juicy Sauvignon Blanc with refreshing, zesty acidity and delicate mineral notes.

The grapes were sourced from small plots within selected vineyards in the Leyda Valley, 14 kilometres from the Pacific Ocean, where the vines are cooled by the South Pacific breezes and the morning coastal summer fog. Located to the west of the coastal mountain range, the Leyda Valley’s finely textured soils are developed from granite rock on the coastal batholith formed 200 million years ago during the Jurassic period.

  • 2019 Syrah ‘TH’, UndurragaRed Wine

    2019 Syrah ‘TH’, Undurraga

    £2450

Cool climate Syrah with spicy, peppery aromas and notes of fresh wild herbs and subtle tar surround a core of fresh raspberries and wild berries. Mineral on the palate, with a tense tannin structure and a vibrant acidity that gives freshness and identity to the wine.

Located to the west of the coastal mountain range, the Leyda Valley has gently rolling hills, exposing the vines to varying levels of sunlight and drainage profiles. The soils are developed from granite rock on the coastal batholith formed 200 million years ago in the Jurassic period. For this wine, the grapes were selected from a small plot of Syrah grown in finely textured soils. The top layer is shallow loamy clay with poor fertility, followed by a sedimentary ‘crack’ clay profile. The subsoil is decomposed granite rock with a diverse mineral structure. The plot is densely planted with 10,000 vines per hectare of French Clones 174 and 470 on a north-facing slope exposed to the sun. The yield was two kilograms per plant, which favours the concentration necessary to achieve a wine with great richness.
