Description
Domaine de l’Olivette, in the same family for over 200 years, is one of the oldest in the Bandol appellation. Originally, the Olivette was a “countryside” where mixed farming was practised: wheat, vines, market gardening as well as olive trees which gave its name to the Estate.
The Sylvabelle family from Marseille, ancestors of Jean-Luc Dumoutier, the current owner, acquired the Domaine in the 18th century. From 1930, when the Estate was handed over to Raymond Giraud, Jean-Luc’s grandfather, cultivation gradually focused mainly on the vine, especially after the creation in 1941 of the Bandol appellation, of which the Domaine was one of the pioneers.
Subsequently, the last generations, Jacques and Denyse Dumoutier, in the 70s, then recently Jean-Luc and Elisabeth undertook a major modernization of the cellar which is now equipped with the best winemaking equipment. The estate uses no chemical weed killer or insecticides rather, as is becoming the norm across the world, aims to work with the soil and the environment in a sustainable and organic way.
