Description
Five generations of Willems women have managed the family’s business.
The winery is located in the municipality of Konz-Oberemmel (Saar area) in the German Moselle wine region. It was taken over by Maria Willems in 1971. The double name results from the fact that her husband Kal bore the same name thanks to a common ancestor. Since 2001, the farm has been run by daughter Carolin Hofmann, who had gained experience in Australia and South Africa. Her husband Jürgen Hofmann runs a winery in the community of Appenheim in Rheinhessen as the second family business. The vineyards comprise four hectares of vineyards in the individual locations Altenberg, Karlsberg and Rosenberg (Oberemmel), as well as Herrenberg (Niedermennig). Due to the predominant soil types here, the slogan “slate meets shell limestone” was created.
