    This single-vineyard wines name is inspired by Phalaris, a type of grass that grows in the dry coastal lands in central and southern Chile. It begins to grow with the first rains of fall. During the summer, it turns a greenish-yellow colour very similar to that of the Viña Leyda Chardonnay.

    With a refined and complex bouquet, this wine displays ripe citrus fruit notes like orange and tangerine along with hints of chestnuts. On the palate, it is creamy, with a tangy acidity in the finish.  Its minerality lends freshness, while oak notes reflect the ageing process carried out 100% in French oak barrels for ten months. Throughout the winemaking process, this wine maintains its natural acidity and freshness.

In the warm centre of the valley – where there is low rainfall and relatively low frost risk – Framingham are able to harvest controlled yields at desired ripeness.

    Riscal’s latest endeavour is to produce a single-vineyard 100% Verdejo from an old vineyard situated in the Montico estate within the borders of Rueda.   

    The nose has a marked Verdejo varietal aroma with medium intensity and hints of fennel, herbs, white blossom, pear and peach. It has a fresh, unctuous, very smooth mouth-feel, with a long, round finish. Its good acidity together with a period of ageing on its finest lees helps to keep its fresh taste longer and preserves all its aromatic complexity. This wine does not aim to impress with a powerful nose, but rather reveals a more elegant, complex varietal character.   The palate is fresh with a creamy, unctuous character.  The subtle honey and white peach flavours are utterly delicious.

    Verdejo has the capacity to age very well and this example is now at its peak after 6 years.

    Gaia Estate is one of the pioneers of modern Greek wines and under the guidance of winemakers, Leon Karatsalos and Yiannis Paraskevopoulos they produce outstanding wines from traditional Greek varieties.  Agiorgitiko (pronounced Ah-yor-YEE-te-ko) is a fragrant red wine grape native to Greece’s Peloponnese peninsula.  It is the red grape of region Nemea, making silky smooth, fruit-packed reds with a velvety finish. This cuvée shows intense aromatic finesse evolving from ripe berries and gooseberry through to caramel and discreet oak nuances. Soft tannins underline a rich, well structured velvety body.

    The vineyards are located near Koutsi, a semi-mountainous village. The vineyards here are known for their chalky soils and good drainage. The cool temperatures, the ideal sun exposure and the steep inclination of the vineyards combine to produce lower yields than other parts of Nemea, but the berries have excellent concentration of flavour.

    The name is best explained by winemaker Mark Haynes: When I first started making this wine, the percentage of viognier was a twelfth of the total, about 8%, and with ‘twelfth’ being ‘douzième’ in French, the wine pretty much found its own name. (Somewhat more obliquely, from Côte Rotie we get ‘la côte’ one of whose meanings is ‘rib’ and being a feminine word, led me to Eve, who it is said was created from Adam’s twelfth rib.

    Domaine de L’Olivette were one of the pioneers of the Bandol appellation when it was formed in 1941.   Bandol is a unique and magnificent amphitheatre between land and sea, bathed in sun all year round, stretching from the Sainte-Baume massif to the shore of the Mediterranean between Marseille and Toulon.   It is an exceptional site that generations of winegrowers have shaped stone by stone, to build the famous “restanques (terraces).  According to appellation law, all grapes are handpicked and yields are kept low to ensure quality over quantity.

    This 2015 Bandol Blanc ‘Tradition Cuvée’ is produced from mainly Clairette with a small amount of Rolle (Vermentino) and it has great aromatic complexity. The colour is a lovely pale yellow with light golden glints. The taste is persistent, long and sweet. It is very expressive, pleasantly and delicately fruity, releasing subtle scents of almond, lime-tree and citrus notes. This nervy wine offers roundness and fullness with long persistence of flavours. It is best if not drunk too cold, at 14-15° to enable it to express its aromas to the full.   Fish, seafood, foie gras and white meats love it.
