Guerrieri Rizzardi2022 ‘Pojega’ Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore, Guerrieri Rizzardi
Vintage: 2022
Crafted from hand-harvested grapes grown on the historic Rizzardi family estate—established in 1649 and nestled in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico zone—this Ripasso showcases both tradition and finesse. The inclusion of 10% Amarone in the Ripasso process brings added depth and structure to the wine, while preserving the hallmark freshness and elegance of the region.
In the glass, the nose of the 2022 Pojega is aromatic and expressive, offering layers of ripe dark cherry, blackberry, and plum, with subtle hints of spice, dried herbs, and cocoa. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with a vibrant acidity that lends lift and drinkability, balanced by a supple texture and fine-grained tannins. The Amarone component adds richness and complexity, contributing to a long, persistent finish with notes of dark fruit and earthy undertones.
Multi-dimensional and refined, Pojega is a red that captivates now and promises even more with time in the bottle. A perfect companion to hearty dishes, but equally compelling on its own.

Description
Guerrieri Rizzardi is a renowned winery located in the Veneto region of northern Italy, specifically in the Valpolicella area. The winery has a rich history and is well-known for producing high-quality wines that highlight the traditional and modern winemaking techniques of the region.
Guerrieri Rizzardi’s vineyards are situated in some of the finest wine-growing areas in Veneto, primarily in the Soave and Valpolicella regions. These regions are famous for their volcanic soils, which provide ideal conditions for growing the region’s signature grape varieties. The terroir, combined with the winery’s commitment to sustainable farming practices, contributes to the distinctive characteristics of its wines.
The winery’s vineyards are located at varying altitudes, which helps to create a balance between the ripeness of the fruit and the freshness in the wines. The combination of different climates and soils enhances the complexity of the wines and allows for a broad range of wine styles.
Destemmed and crushed grapes undergo alcoholic fermentation for 10 days at 25°c – 28°C in stainless steel temperature controlled tanks (100, 150 and 300 hl), followed by malolactic fermentation. In the early part of the next year the wine is re-fermented (Ripasso method) on the Amarone pomace and remaining 10% of liquid Amarone.
