2023 Décadence Merlot, La Belle Etoile

    £1295

The 2023 Décadence Merlot is exactly as its name suggests: sumptuous, silky, and deeply satisfying. Made from carefully selected Merlot grapes grown in the warm, limestone-rich soils of the Languedoc, this wine offers all the generous fruit and supple texture the variety is loved for.

In the glass, it reveals an inviting bouquet of black plum, ripe blackberry, and dark cherry, wrapped in subtle notes of mocha, vanilla, and sweet spice. The palate is plush and rounded, with layers of juicy dark fruit, soft tannins, and a hint of cocoa and toasted oak. A smooth, lingering finish completes the experience, leaving an impression of effortless decadence.

2022 Domaine Cavalier Rouge, Chateau de Lascaux

    £1800

This wine is a delightful blend of Cabernet-Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, and Cinsault grapes from the St Guilhem le Désert region in the sunny Val de Montferrand.   In the glass, it offers aromas of black cherries and eucalyptus, with hints of cocoa. On the palate, it is fresh, well-structured as well as having a finesse not often found in these grapes from this part of the world.   With 10 generations of organic winemaking under their belt, this family Chateau know what they’re doing!

Cellaring potential is 3 to 5 years, and it pairs wonderfully with appetizers, grilled dishes, burgers, and roasted Camembert.
