Richard Kershaw Wines
Site-specific, clonal selected, cool-climate wines made in Elgin, South Africa
Born and raised in the UK, Richard Kershaw enjoyed a successful career as a chef before discovering wine. After travelling extensively, he arrived in South Africa in 1999 and, by 2009, was Group Winemaker of Mulderbosch and Kanu. Richard became a Master of Wine in 2011 and established Richard Kershaw Wines in January 2012.
He is now pursuing his dream of creating world-class site-specific, cool-climate wines from high-quality French clones of the Chardonnay and Syrah grapes in the district of Elgin.
Surrounded by mountains, the Elgin district sits in the Western Cape of South Africa, where the year-round cool climate is perfect for producing grapes with rich, subtle flavours. The climate leans toward Southern Burgundy and the Northern Rhône, affording Richard’s wines a surprisingly Old World feel.
All of his wines are extremely impressive and consistently rated amongst the best in the Southern hemisphere. Kershaw Wines is a small operation, and volumes are low, so we are delighted to have secured a decent allocation of his wines to share with you.
Smugglers Boot is an innovative value range of wines that pays tribute to the ingenuity of winemakers past and present.
Clonal Selection are cool climate wines from Elgin, featuring Chardonnay, Syrah and Pinot Noir.
The G.P.S Series focuses on exploring exemplary parcels of vines from outside the Elgin region.
