This incredible value wine is produced by the Cellers Unio co-operative in Terra Alta, west of the Catalonia coastline. Garnacha thrives in these hot conditions, while the local winds blow through the vineyard, helping to temper the heat and keep the vines clean.
The wine opens in the glass with expressive aromas of flowers and red fruits with some really interesting balsamic notes. The palate is ripe, fresh and fruity with a touch of sweetness.
Brilliant Grenache for the money.
The wine is a blend of Garnacha, Syrah and Monastrell sourced from the rising star Valencia DO, and has been made by award-winning winemaker Victor Marqués at the state-of-the-art Bodegas Murviedro. Unoaked and fermented in stainless steel, this wine is all about freshness and capturing the essence of the Valencian sunshine.
This wine has aromas of black fruits, vanilla and toasted almonds, with a rich and rounded palate. It will pair beautifully with grilled meats, stews or cheese.
Red WineA juicy, fleshy unoaked red wine, showing great purity and typicity of high-altitude Garnacha vines from the heart of Spain. Expressive and well-defined notes of rich, red berried fruits and hints of violet are supported by supple tannins and excellent persistence.
The grapes are grown in high-altitude vineyards in the northernmost part of Central Castile, where the continental climate enjoys sunny days and cool nights. This diurnal temperature difference encourages grapes with intense fruit and excellent varietal definition, which retaining remarkable freshness. The vineyards are sustainably managed and organically farmed as part of an integrated ecosystem. Low annual rainfall results in low disease pressure, enabling the vines to be grown without the aid of fungicides. Fertilisers have never been used, only organic manure is applied and weed control is managed by a low, superficial tilling. Rainwater is collected in a small reservoir and is used for drip irrigation in the case of extreme drought.
Aromas of ripe red fruit aromas and a touch of spice lead to a smooth palate of blackcurrant, fresh red fruits and vanilla nuances. The tannins are fine and silky and contribute to the balance of this eminently quaffable wine.
The contrasted region of the Languedoc Roussillon produces fruity wines which represent the exceptional diversity of terroirs. The grapes for the 6ème Sens Rouge are grown in the foothills of the Corbières and Minervois. Here, the sunny climate and proximity to the Mediterranean, offer the ideal landscape for vine growing.
