  • 2021 Shiraz, SeppeltsfieldRed Wine

    2021 Shiraz, Seppeltsfield

    £2650

The 2021 Seppeltsfield Barossa Shiraz Wine represents the estates diverse holding of vineyards that cross the Barossa Valleys Western ridge, from the North to Southern grounds. Generations of grape growers have farmed this variety in the region since the 1840s – the complex combination of varying geology, geography and climate interacting to express its qualities in manner of ways, from perfumed and elegant to rich and generous.

In the glass it has lifted dark cherry and plum fruit with complex brown spices.  The palate shows classic Barossa ripeness, dark fruits and dark chocolate richness. Balanced yet subtle oak, juicy acidity and polished tannins.

  • 2018 Peninsula Shiraz, Paringa EstateRed Wine

    2018 Peninsula Shiraz, Paringa Estate

    £2800

This is fabulous cool climate shiraz, that is achingly drinkable and great value for money.   The Peninsula label represents the first tier in the Paringa Estate range and are sourced from the Estate managed vineyards in Red Hill, and from a few other carefully selected vineyards around the Peninsula. These wines are an exceptional expression of the Mornington Peninsula style, with an emphasis on lively fruit.

In recent years Paringa has renewed its focus in ensuring the Peninsula range over-delivers on quality and we love the quote from the great James Halliday: “The quality of these wines are often equal to many other vineyards best”

In the glass, a bouquet of spicy blackberry fruit along with lifted floral viognier aromatics lead onto a fruit-driven palate of black fruits, black pepper and fine-grained tannins and silky texture.  A medium-bodied wine with texture and power but with a fineness that reflects its cool climate origin.

  • 2018 Old Vines Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz, TahbilkRed Wine

2018 Old Vines Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz, Tahbilk

    £2950

The old vines deliver a generous and expressive wine, with underlying elegance. Hints of bay leaf, mint and pepper weave seamlessly around dark berry, spice and plum fruits with herbal and cedar oak-derived complexity.

Tahbilk’s vineyards are grouped along the banks of the Goulburn River, a branch of it which flows through the estate. The vines are grown at around 134 metres elevation of gently undulating and flat terrain. The soils are sandy loam with ferric oxide content, which vary from very fine sand near the anabranch to denser loams on the plains. Tahbilk has Shiraz vineyards dating back from the 1860s to the 1990s. The oldest surviving block is the ‘1860 block’; planted on its own roots in sandy soils, which has made it impossible for phylloxera to colonise the vine roots.
