2016 Petit Védrines Sauternes, Chateau Doisy Védrines – Half Bottle

    £1495

Sauternes is the world’s most celebrated dessert wine and Doisy Védrines is one of the best. Despite lying next door to Premiers Crus Châteaux Climens and Coutet, it remains under the radar. This is their magnificent, affordable second wine.

Golden in colour, the nose shows caramelised citrus, orange marmalade and honeysuckle. Sweet, but not cloying, there are lovely botrytis flavours intermingled with orange and lime peel and fresh citrus acidity on the generous finish.

  • 2015 Lune d’Or, Clos des LunesWhite Wine

2015 Lune d’Or, Clos des Lunes

    £4250

Located in Sauternes, on one of the greatest white wine terroirs in France, the Clos des Lunes is a magnificent rolling vineyard planted with old sémillon and sauvignon blanc vines. On very old vines, some perfectly golden clusters are chosen and delicately sorted grain by grain, by expert hands.

The wine is pale gold in the glass – which is rather apt considering the name!  The nose is very expressive with fragrances of tangerine, lemon and grapefruit with wafts of fresh hay and chamomile.  Together these aromas give a mouthwatering sensation.  This leads into the racy palate that is complex, textural – preserved lemons, stone fruits and a delicious passion fruit taste.   The finish is long luscious and minerally.
