£1995Add to BasketA silky, smooth Pinot Noir made with low intervention to fully express notes of spiced cherry, blueberry, hibiscus and violets. Beautifully balanced with an elegant finish.

Original price was: £2395.£2000Current price is: £2000. 16% savingAdd to BasketThe 2022 Pioneer Block 15 ‘Strip Block’ Pinot Noir from Saint Clair Family Estate is a beautifully perfumed, site-driven wine that captures the finesse and fruit purity of Marlborough’s southern valleys. Saint Clair, a family-owned winery founded by Neal and Judy Ibbotson, has become one of New Zealand’s most awarded producers. Renowned for their commitment to quality and innovation, the estate focuses on small, distinct parcels, known as Pioneer Blocks, that showcase the exceptional diversity of Marlborough terroir.
‘Strip Block’ takes its name from a narrow strip of aged, devigorating soils found at the base of the southern foothills of the lower Waihopai Valley. This unique micro-site, with its clay-based soil and slight northerly aspect, naturally limits vine vigour and promotes concentration in the fruit.

2022 Agiorgitiko by Gaia
£2095Add to BasketGaia Estate is one of the pioneers of modern Greek wines and under the guidance of winemakers, Leon Karatsalos and Yiannis Paraskevopoulos they produce outstanding wines from traditional Greek varieties. Agiorgitiko (pronounced Ah-yor-YEE-te-ko) is a fragrant red wine grape native to Greece’s Peloponnese peninsula. It is the red grape of region Nemea, making silky smooth, fruit-packed reds with a velvety finish. This cuvée shows intense aromatic finesse evolving from ripe berries and gooseberry through to caramel and discreet oak nuances. Soft tannins underline a rich, well structured velvety body.
The vineyards are located near Koutsi, a semi-mountainous village. The vineyards here are known for their chalky soils and good drainage. The cool temperatures, the ideal sun exposure and the steep inclination of the vineyards combine to produce lower yields than other parts of Nemea, but the berries have excellent concentration of flavour.

2018 The Derelict Vineyard Grenache, d’Arenberg
£2095Add to Basket2018 was an exceptional year for Grenache in the McLaren Vale. An absolute abundance of fruit on the nose, with all the classics, blueberry, plum, liquorice, spice and earth. The palate too is full of presence. Juicy and generous but with a seam of crunchy tannin and lively acid that add structure and fresh punch to the wine. All of these big rich fruits are wrapped around a graphite almost ferrous like framework. Immediately drinkable but undoubtedly a Grenache built for time. If enjoying young be sure to decant or at a minimum allow it to breath in the glass. Your patience will reward you.
The name of the wine is inspired by the time in the 1980s and early 90s when Grenache was considered unfashionable, Chester acquired many old bush vine, overgrown and abandoned vineyards. These vineyards still have a slightly dishevelled appearance, but they are back producing very low yields of exceptional fruit.

2023 Côtes du Rhône Villages Plan de Dieu Vielles Vignes, Domaine Saint Damien
£2095Add to BasketAn opulent and spicy full-flavoured wine, with layered flavours of prunes and garrigue from this award-winning producer.
The vineyards are located in the relatively new appellation of Plan de Dieu, which translates as Plan of God in English. Despite the first historical mentions of the “Plan Dei”, which date back to a parchment from 1326, the lieu-dit of Plan de Dieu was only designated a red wine producing appellation in 2005. The climate here is classic Mediterranean with the additional influence of the Mistral winds. The terroir sits on an alluvial plateau with calcareous gravel, which retains water, helping to preserve the vines during the hot and often arid summer months.

2020 Rioja Tinto, Bodega Alegre Valganon
£2095Add to BasketWinemaker Oscar Alegre is at the forefront of a revolution in Spain. “Traditional Rioja is actually only 150 years old, driven by French influence at the end of the 19th Century – but Alegre Valgañon are among those championing a return to the much deeper roots of the region, making wine as it was before Phylloxera. Oscar and his wife Eva make gorgeous, sculpted Rioja from old plots of vines in the shadow of the Obarenes Mountains which are some of the highest and coolest in the region, yielding wines that are refined and aromatic. Their vineyard plots are managed meticulously and they favour whole bunch fermentation, long macerations and ageing in large, neutral barrels.
In the glass this 2020 Rioja Tinto is silky smooth with a freshness and lightness of touch to it’s crunchy red, mineral tinged fruits. Garnacha adds a little bit of weight but overall the wine is wonderfully silky and elegant with terroir and fruit shining through rather than oak.
