This incredible value wine is produced by the Cellers Unio co-operative in Terra Alta, west of the Catalonia coastline. Garnacha thrives in these hot conditions, while the local winds blow through the vineyard, helping to temper the heat and keep the vines clean.
The wine opens in the glass with expressive aromas of flowers and red fruits with some really interesting balsamic notes. The palate is ripe, fresh and fruity with a touch of sweetness.
Brilliant Grenache for the money.
Red WineA Monastrell from 50 year-old-vines, Hecula is a deep, alluring purple in the glass, boasting aromas of blueberry, wild raspberry, and liquorice with hints of violet and allspice. On the palate, it is full-bodied, with an inviting richness. Notes of toasted cedar and nutmeg are neatly integrated with red berry fruit. Silky mouthfeel and soft, ripe tannins are balanced by the wine’s juicy acidity.
This wine is from Las Gruesas and Pozuelo vineyards which are situated at an altitude 750 metres above sea level. This area has a very different microclimate from the rest of the region which is clearly continental. It has minimum temperatures of -10°C in winter and up to 42°C in summer. The area is prone to infrequent but heavy spells of rain. The average age of the vines is 50 years old and the density is 1,600 vines per hectare. Soils are a mix of sandstone and limestone.
Red WineThis fantastic 100% Tempranillo is from the Toro appellation which is in the Castilla y León in north-western Spain.
This is a young, fresh expression of Tempranillo aged for 6 months in 100% French oak. In the glass it has an alluring deep red colour with a very expressive nose of berries fruit, caramel and vanilla notes. The palate is rich and structured with supple tannins. Flavours of red fruits, vanilla along with hints of balsamic abound. A fantastic Bbq wine made for drinking in the next few years.

White WineBodegas Nivarius specialises in the production of white wines from cool-climate vineyards in Rioja.
In the glass it has an intensely aromatic blend of stone fruits complemented by subtle vanilla notes from the barrique ageing. Vibrant freshness envelops a creamy texture through to a long, harmonious and fruity finish.
Nivarius, meaning ‘snow-drift’, takes its name from the common sight of the snowy blanket which covers the vineyards in winter.

This 2020 Vintage displays a nose that is fresh with vibrant fruit aromas and hints of wild strawberries, raspberries and cranberries. These red fruit notes are followed by spicy aromas of vanilla, caramel, cedar and liquorice. Balanced on the palate with a lively attack and a smooth and balanced mid-palate. The finish is long with a fruity expression and balsamic notes.
Red WineMade from Tempranillo vines 10-15 years old and aged for 12 months in oak. In the glass, it has loads of creamy, spicy, vanilla-rich American oak enriched by bright, ripe blackcurrant fruit. The palate has lovely dry savouriness which floods the tongue, the slick, ripe tannins and cherry-skin grip are lovely, all buttressed by that spice and creamy oak.
This fabulous new style, attention to detail Rioja has pure and intense aromas of dark cherry and blackberry that are complemented by violet and clove highlights. On the palate, the wonderful fruit concentration is balanced by fresh acidity, with characterful chalky tannins leading to a long, mineral finish.
The grapes come from 300 carefully selected parcels, situated on the slopes of the Sierra Cantabria, in Rioja Alavesa. The average plot size is just 0.3 hectares and the average age of the vineyard is approximately 50 years, but some of the vines are significantly older, producing low yields of concentrated juice. The bush vines are planted in limestone soils, resulting in elegant wines that are fresh, precise and age-worthy due to the balancing acidity.

The grapes for O Con come from a single vineyard ‘Sobre a Mina’ in the DO Rias Baixas in the North West of Spain. The old, low yielding 70-year-old Albariño vines are planted at a density of 1,000 to 2,000 vines per hectare and produce grapes with concentrated flavours. The vineyard is situated on a hillside at an altitude of between 50 to 100 metres above sea level, where it is influenced by cooling sea breezes from the Atlantic. The vineyard is cultivated in the traditional manner and the schistous soils imbue the wine with an intense character and mineral style. The grapes are manually harvested at optimum maturity.
Created by Julián Chivite as a homage to his great friend and top Spanish chef José María Arzak. This food-friendly rose wine is made up of a blend of 54% Garnacha and 46% Tempranillo. Intense on the nose with strawberry, pomegranate, raspberry, blackberry and rose petals at the end. Balanced and satisfying mouthfeel. Long persistence on the finish with notes of cherry in the aftertaste. Delicious!
