This incredible value wine is produced by the Cellers Unio co-operative in Terra Alta, west of the Catalonia coastline. Garnacha thrives in these hot conditions, while the local winds blow through the vineyard, helping to temper the heat and keep the vines clean.
The wine opens in the glass with expressive aromas of flowers and red fruits with some really interesting balsamic notes. The palate is ripe, fresh and fruity with a touch of sweetness.

Aromas of ripe red fruit aromas and a touch of spice lead to a smooth palate of blackcurrant, fresh red fruits and vanilla nuances. The tannins are fine and silky and contribute to the balance of this eminently quaffable wine.

The grapes for the 6ème Sens Rouge are grown in the foothills of the Corbières and Minervois. Here, the sunny climate and proximity to the Mediterranean, offer the ideal landscape for vine growing.

The vines are grown in two plots located to the east and west of the Rhône (hence the name) and impart the complexity of the different Rhône terroirs. The complementary qualities from these two terroirs allow the 35-year-old Grenache vines to reveal all their potential: elegance and finesse come from the small yields of 35 hectolitres per hectare and clay-limestone subsoil of the Saint Geniès de Comolas terroir in the Gard, while the round pebbles and clay subsoil of the Travaillan in the Vaucluse impart structure and power to the blend.

Red WineLa Rouviole is located in the renowned Cru La Livinière area of Minervois. Wines are made from blends of Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault and Carignan from the best and oldest plots of the estate.
This 2019 Minervois ‘La Régence is a full-flavoured and perfumed wine showing notes of ripe cassis with elegant cedar and chocolate notes and a fine, velvety texture.
The vineyard is located in the heart of the ‘Petit Causse’ terroir, in the Cru La Livinière production area, which lies between Carcassonne, Béziers and Narbonne. The 30-year old vines are grown on the hillside plots, on clay-limestone soil. The clay component retains moisture and nourishes the vines through the warm, summers, while the limestone imparts elegance to the resulting wines. The vineyard is orientated towards a southern exposure, which captures exceptional sunshine, over 300 days per year, which enables the grapes to reach excellent maturity and concentration. The Mediterranean is less than 25 miles away, which influences the vines with cooling oceanic breezes. The vineyard is surrounded by scrubland, with thyme, lavender, rosemary and almond, fig, cherry and olive trees all contributing to the aromatic complexity of the wines. The vineyards are located in the relatively new appellation of Plan de Dieu, which translates as Plan of God in English. Despite the first historical mentions of the “Plan Dei”, which date back to a parchment from 1326, the lieu-dit of Plan de Dieu was only designated a red wine producing appellation in 2005. The climate here is classic Mediterranean with the additional influence of the Mistral winds. The terroir sits on an alluvial plateau with calcareous gravel, which retains water, helping to preserve the vines during the hot and often arid summer months.
Domaine des Cigalounes winemaker Emmanuelle Gauthier is a non-interventionist and looks for finesse and silky tannins in his wines rather than over-extraction. His 2019 Lirac is just that – a concentrated wine with aromas of deep, wild cherry fruits and spicy notes. Full flavoured with a smooth texture, silky tannins and a long, satisfying finish. A portion of the blend was matured in barrel imparting a lovely subtle complexity.
Lirac is an appellation on the western side of the southern Rhône Valley. Domaine de Cigalounes is a seven-hectare property which has been certified organic since 2012. It is located on the rocky plateau between the villages of Tavel and Lirac, on the opposite bank of the Rhône from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The vines are grown according to traditional philosophies, in red soils with pebbly topsoil.
Red WineA layered blend showing lovely complexity, with aromas of ripe black fruits underpinned by hints of mocha chocolate, a touch of vanilla and wood spice. Rich and smooth, the black fruit and chocolatey notes envelop fine tannins with great length on the finish.
Red WineThis natural wine is a blend of Mourvèdre, Carignan and Garnacha with a dollop of Syrah. It has enticing aromas of forest fruits, cherry, raspberry and mulberry are laced with vanilla and tobacco nuances through to a rounded palate with a fine tannin structure and a persistent fruity finish.
The fruit comes from a combination of vineyards located in the Valle de Maule and the Valle de Colchagua. In the Valle de Maule, the ancient soils are made up of granitic sandy loam, which is formed from granite from the Coastal Mountains. The soils are full of quartz and are mineral-rich, which enables the vines to express their full fruit potential. In the Valle de Colchagua, the alluvial soil offers excellent drainage properties, oxygenation and deep development of the vine’s roots, which creates exceptional conditions for the production of high-quality fruit.
Red WineJoshua is the wine that started Teusner as a wine producer. Kym Teusner and his business partner Mick Page were in a pub sipping a few beers. They overheard a couple of old growers having a conversation about the low, low prices being paid for their old vine Grenache…to the point they were going to rip out the vines and plant Chardonnay! Horrified they hatched a rescue plan, scrambling together some cash, the grapes found a new home and the vines stayed in the ground where they belonged and Teusner Wines was born.
Named after Mick’s first son, Joshua is a blend of Grenache, Mataro and Shiraz. Made from 100-year-old vines it has a delicious mix of light and dark fresh ripe berried fruits, cured meats and lifted spice on the nose that sets you up for a mouthful of savoury and gamey flavour in the mouth. Kept away from oak and released young it showcases the juicy, spicy, flavoursome red wines of the Barossa.

This 2019 `Calcinaires` Rouge is bright with red and black fruit, notes of wild rosemary and thyme mingle with spice and dark cherry fruit on the palate, balanced by bright acidity and ripe supple tannins. Worth decanting beforehand to allow to fully open and express.
Wallace takes on the traditional Barossa Valley blend of Shiraz and Grenache in a modern way. The Shiraz brings backbone, flesh and body to the wine with the Grenache adding a soft, vibrant juiciness.
Wallace is made from exceptional old vine fruit was sourced from the famed Ebenezer sub district at the northern tip of the Barossa Valley. Vine ages are 50—80 years old for the Shiraz and 50—100 years old for the Grenache.
In the glass, the wine has lifted aromas of bright red fruits with fresh spice notes of star anise and cedar. The palate has bright red berry fruit, redcurrant and liquorice flavours that complement the soft and rounded Grenache fruit tannin and the savoury finish of Shiraz. Lovely refreshing acidity provides both lift and depth.

Wallace is an ancestral name of Colin’s wife, Judith, whose family hail from the old market town of Cupar in Fife, Scotland. Judith’s Celtic ancestry is reflected in the three elements of the Wallace symbol – the Celtic cross, thistle and the Celtic knot pattern.
We love Grenache at Wine Republic and were very excited when Illimis announced they had produced one! Winemaker and owner of Illimis, Lucinda Heyns has crafted an exceptional example of Grenache from a bush vine vineyard located in Wellington which is just north of Paarl in the Western Cape. The vineyard has shale soil with pockets of schist that Grenache loves and it delivers a wine with fine, chalky tannins, beautiful aromas of wild strawberries, lavender and rose petals. The palate is silky and supple with flavours of cherry, minerals, dried berries and wild herbs that lead into a long finish.
Created by Julián Chivite as a homage to his great friend and top Spanish chef José María Arzak. This food-friendly rose wine is made up of a blend of 54% Garnacha and 46% Tempranillo. Intense on the nose with strawberry, pomegranate, raspberry, blackberry and rose petals at the end. Balanced and satisfying mouthfeel. Long persistence on the finish with notes of cherry in the aftertaste. Delicious!
