Crafted solely from hand-harvested Chardonnay grapes, Domaine Altugnac Chardonnay undergoes fermentation and aging in stainless steel tanks, complete with malolactic fermentation, ensuring the preservation of its freshness and varietal essence. Despite hailing from a warm region, winemakers Jean-Luc and Christian masterfully maintain acidity, tension, and vibrancy in this white wine. This particular vintage bears a striking resemblance to Chablis, boasting a pale straw hue and aromas reminiscent of lemon confit, white flowers, green apple, white peach, and yuzu. On the palate, it is bright and invigorating, enveloped by a mineral core that culminates in a lifted finish.

2023 ‘1753’ Viognier, Château de Campuget
£1695Add to BasketAn elegant Viognier with hints of nectarine, ginger and honeysuckle. Precise, crisp and balanced on the palate, with a roundness of generously structured fruit and a long, elegant finish.
The vineyard that this Viognier comes from is situated 15 kilometres south of Nîmes, near the village of Manduel, in the heart of the ‘Appellation d’Origine Protégée’ of the Costières de Nîmes. The average age of the vines is about 25 years. The main characteristic of the vineyard is the soil, which is formed of ‘gress’, an accumulation of rounded pebbles that have been deposited by the overflowing Rhône River thousands of years ago. These pebbles allow the vines to grow in the best possible conditions and due to this natural soil filter; the vine’s roots can easily draw the necessary water for their growth. The vines also benefit from the Mediterranean sunshine, which brings the grapes to perfect maturity and allows them to be picked at maximum phenolic maturity which assured elegance in the resulting wine.

Rose Wine
2021 ‘1753’ Syrah Vermentino Rosé, Château de Campuget
£1695Add to BasketA classic rose petal colour, this elegant, dry rosé shows aromatic notes of grapefruit and delicate citrus hints, through to a refreshing palate of red berry fruits with a lifted finish.
The terroir in the vineyard is characterised by the ‘Galets’ or large pebbles that are remnants of Alpine glaciers that have been smoothed over millennia by the Rhône. These pebbles absorb and store the heat from the sun during the day and release it at night, encouraging the vines to ripen the grapes. The vines here have established a deep root system enabling them to draw the mineral elements they need to grow and providing a complexity of flavour to the resulting wine. The Mediterranean sunshine is vital to the maturation and phenolic ripeness of the grapes.

£1695Add to BasketWith a brioche opening, complex aromas of floral blossom, spice and flinty notes surround a core of pear and citrus. Intense and precise, the textured palate is lively, balanced and underpinned by elegant mineral notes. Drink now to 2025.

The soils are formed of glacial moraine; they are very young limestone soils made up of limestone scree, with layers of silty clay, which produce elegant, fresh wines. The vines are planted at 400 metres’ elevation, yet despite the altitude and mountainous location, the summers are surprisingly hot. This distinctive microclimate encourages the grapes to reach optimum maturity with concentrated juice, balanced by mountain-cool freshness. The vines are cultivated using integrated agriculture practices, maintaining the greatest respect for terroir and tradition. The focus is on green harvesting with pruning, debudding, trellising and leaf stripping. All grapes are hand-harvested. In 2021, the domain moved into conversion to organic status.
