  • 2013 Croser Vintage Sparkling, Petaluma Wine Republic Heros Champagne & Sparkling Wine

    2013 Croser Vintage Sparkling, Petaluma

    £2795

Petaluma Croser is one of the true premium quality sparklings produced in Australia.

In the glass, this magnificent 2013 vintage Croser is complex, elegant and creamy with a nose redolent of honey and cashew and an alluring citrus lift. The palate shows wild strawberry Pinot characters alongside a more buttery nectarine Chardonnay before a soft yeasty finish buoyed by green apple acidity.   36 months on lees really adds to the complexity of this outstanding wine.

All of the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes for Croser are grown in Petaluma’s Piccadilly Valley vineyards at between 400 and 500 metres ASL, on the cool south and west facing slopes of Mount Lofty and Mount Bonython in the coolest viticultural region in South Australia.

  • 2021 Omaka Reserve Pinot Noir, Saint ClairRed Wine

2021 Omaka Reserve Pinot Noir, Saint Clair

    £2950

The Reserve wines from Saint Clair represent the estate’s pinnacle wines – the best of the best.   This 2019 has concentrated flavours of black cherry, blackcurrant, Kalamata olive, and perfumed wildflowers, that lead to an elegant palate with a structure reminiscent of finely powdered cocoa. The finish is long incorporating freshly roasted coffee beans, toasty oak and spice.

Ageing potential: This wine is drinking beautifully now or with careful cellaring will mature into a more complex wine that can be enjoyed for the next 8 to 10 years or beyond.

This vineyard site has been the foundation for some of Saint Clair’s finest wines. This is the vineyard where Saint Clair Family Estate first discovered the fruit to make their flagship Saint Clair Wairau Reserve Sauvignon Blanc. The fruit is sourced from a single vineyard in the lower Wairau Valley. The Block One site was previously part of the Wairau flood plain and is renowned for its deep, highly fertile, free-draining soils, which have been built up over time and help to produce the intensity of flavour in the resulting wine. The vineyard has a flat profile and is situated approximately three metres above sea level. It is now protected from flooding by a stopbank. Located in a slightly cooler site than the majority of the Marlborough Valley, the vines have a slower annual ripening period. The fruit is carefully monitored during the ripening stage and is harvested during the cooler evenings, at maximum flavour maturity and physiological ripeness.

  • NV ‘Chalklands’ Classic Cuvee, Simpsons Wine EstateChampagne & Sparkling Wine, English & Welsh Sparkling Wine, Sparkling

NV ‘Chalklands’ Classic Cuvee, Simpsons Wine Estate

    £2995

The epitome of English elegance, this rich golden sparkling wine has enticing aromas of caramelised pear and floral millefeuille, combined with bright citrus flavours, linear precision and impressive length.

The first release of this elegant and luxurious English Sparkling Wine was awarded a Gold Medal and a “Best in Class” title at the 2019 Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships. The 2018 vintage is equally as exquisite and as just as popular – selling out as soon as we get it!

Simpsons Wine Estate is situated in the Elham Valley; an unspoilt seam in the North Downs of Kent where the contours of the land, the climate and the soil are excellent for viticulture. The intensely lime-rich chalk soil forms part of the same chalk ridge that stretches from southern England through Champagne and on to Burgundy. The grapes come from the Roman Road vineyard, named after the route the Romans first marched when invading England in AD 43.  They are grown on south-facing slopes, ensuring heat accumulation in the day and cold air drainage at night. The vineyard is less than eight miles from the coast, providing a crucial maritime influence insulating the fruit against intense temperature variations.

  • 2014 Tarraford Vineyard Chardonnay, Giant Steps Wine Republic Heros White Wine

2014 Tarraford Vineyard Chardonnay, Giant Steps

    £3200

Chardonnays from the Tarraford vineyard are exceptional and the best description I have ever seen writer is by Australian wine writer Mike Bennie, so here it is:

The One That Goes All Minerally. Huge mineral feel, indeed, you paste this into the section under Wine Minerality in an encyclopaedia. All pebbles and talc in perfume, sure, some citrus, citrus blossom, faint bread dough notes, but you’re drawn to the flint and element rocky notes primarily. The palate does the same, flint, wet slate, smooth pebbles rolled around the palate, olive brine, green apple juice and lime comes in too. Feels quite firm despite a sense of juiciness and being dart-shaped and long. Finishes with the faintest kiss of salted nuttiness. Just beautiful. Poised and fine.
    95 points, Mike Bennie

  • Champagne Brut ‘Carte Blanche’, Bernard RemyChampagne & Sparkling Wine

Champagne Brut ‘Carte Blanche’, Bernard Remy

    £3395

This fantastic value Champagne from Bernard Remy is lively and intense with a delicate and persistent mousse, refreshing notes of lime and lemon combine with floral nuances, honey and a touch of mint on the palate. This champagne blossoms with complexity and finesse.

The vineyard sits on the undulating land over the white calcareous soils. These famous chalky soils are finely structured and more porous than other soil types, with the looser structure enabling the absorption of minerals by the vine. The chalky soils not only provide excellent drainage but also impart elegance and finesse to the resulting wine.

  • 2022 Bourgogne Rouge ‘Maison Dieu’, Domaine Rebourgeon-MureRed Wine

2022 Bourgogne Rouge ‘Maison Dieu’, Domaine Rebourgeon-Mure

    £3395

The Rebourgeon family has been making wine in Pommard for almost 500 years. Domaine Rebourgeon-Mure is a Domaine of approximately 7 hectares and is run by David and his father Daniel. The vineyards are almost all located in Pommard and the neighbouring commune of Volnay.

This 2022 Bourgogne Rouge “Cuvée Maison Dieu” is a lieu-dit (named site) in the village of Pommard and as such is a declassified Pommard!  Indeed the vines are just under those of the famous Château de Pommard.  This all bodes well for what the wine is actually like in the glass…..  It has a generous bouquet with red cherries and raspberry fruit. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, crunchy red fruit.   This wine will be brilliant with dishes such as roast chicken, chicken tagine with olives, coq au vin, beef fillet with Morel or Porcini mushrooms, veal chops and hard cheeses.
