The Paddy Borthwick ‘Paper Road’ Sauvignon Blanc takes its name from original survey documents which described a road which was to run through the Estate family vineyard. Thankfully, the Paper Road was never formed, and instead, it gives its name to this Sauvignon Blanc. With aromas of gooseberry, lychee, grapefruit and guava, the palate is balanced by fine acidity and fruit sweetness. The Paper Road Sauvignon Blanc is a wine with great aromatic power.

2022 Sauvignon Blanc, Baleia Wines
£1725Add to BasketBaleia is a place of whales and wonder, where wines are born from rocky limestone soil in a remote and unspoilt corner of the Cape South Coast. Here vines overcome fierce elements to create fruit with singular character and depth of flavour. Beyond evocative wine, Baleia is also about finding harmony between self, others and nature in pursuit of life’s perfect equilibrium.
This Sauvignon Blanc is lovely and juicy with tropical fruits such as passion fruit and lychee dancing on the palate with saline undertones from the mineral soil in which it is grown.
Making Sauvignon Blanc one is often faced with the temptation of making very upfront and unnuanced wines that lack a sense of place. Baleia has chosen to take the road less travelled by choosing texture and minerality from the site to portray the beauty of the terroir.

2021 L5 Sauvignon Blanc, Yealands
£1795Add to BasketThe Yealands Seaview Vineyard in the Awatere Valley is one of New Zealand’s most coastal vineyards. Breath-taking vistas of rolling hills and wild coastline define the Yealands wines. The strong offshore winds encourage the grapes to grow small with thickened skins and wonderfully concentrated characteristics.
The L5 Block is situated in a very exposed area right on the coastline of the Seaview Vineyard. It is the coolest, most extreme site on the vineyard and the subsequent wine reflects this terroir – mineral, salty, crushed oyster shell and wet stone are just a few of the flavours that characterise this unique wine. Serve chilled with seafood or chicken dishes.

2023 Sauvignon Blanc, Isabel Estate

The site benefits from all the climate characteristics that make the Marlborough renowned including extended sunshine hours combined with a long, cool growing season.
The Isabel Estate Sauvignon Blanc is the epitome of New Zealand’s Marlborough wine region. Benefiting from the estate’s old vines and the soils on the southwestern corner of the estate, the Isabel Sauvignon Blanc drinks beautifully young but also develops intriguing characters with age. The majority of the juice is fermented in stainless steel to retain freshness and purity, with 5% fermented in 500-litre French oak barrels to add complexity and a textural mouthfeel to the wine. A pure tropical fruit nose of passionfruit and gooseberry gives way to nuances of blackcurrant, grapefruit and underlying flinty aromas. The palate is concentrated and enticing, coupled with the classic Isabel “Old Vine” mineral tones, making this wine refreshing and traditional in style. A creamy mid-palate and balanced acidity gives the wine weight and length, and makes it a great accompaniment to fish dishes.
