The Dauny family has been growing vines in Sancerre since 1683, making Vincent Dauny one of the oldest winegrowing names in the region. Today, Vincent represents the 13th generation to carry forward this remarkable legacy. Committed to sustainable and environmentally friendly practices, the estate has farmed organically for many years, well before it became fashionable, demonstrating a deep respect for the land and its expression.
The Les Caillottes cuvée takes its name from the prized caillottes soils, composed of small, white, chalky stones that are known for producing the most elegant and mineral-driven wines in the Sancerre appellation. These well-draining soils, combined with ideal vineyard exposure and cool continental climate, result in grapes of exceptional purity and aromatic precision.
In the glass, Les Caillottes opens with vibrant aromas of citrus blossom, gooseberry, and freshly cut herbs, layered with crushed limestone and hints of white peach. The palate is crisp, focused, and finely textured, with flavours of grapefruit, green apple, and lime zest gliding over a core of mouthwatering acidity. The signature caillottes (chalky pebbles) impart a flinty minerality and taut structure, leading to a long, clean, and elegantly saline finish.
This is a quintessential Sancerre, refined, expressive, and built for both casual sipping and fine dining.
