2019 El Vínculo Crianza, Familia Fernández Rivera
£1695Add to BasketThe name El Vínculo, meaning “union” or “link,” symbolises both the connection that the winery forms between the two Castile regions (Castilla La Mancha and Castilla y León) and a commemoration of the namesake wine cellar owned by the grandparents of the family company’s newest generation. The El Vínculo Crianza is made from a thicker-skinned variety of Tempranillo indigenous to the La Mancha region, called Cencibel sourced from vineyards with an average age of 50 years. After fermentation, the wine was aged for 24 months in American oak barrels and then 6 months rest in the bottle. This is a wine that has body with fine-grained, well-integrated tannins. 2018 Noble Riesling ‘Godfreys Creek Reserve’, Saint Clair, 375ml
£1850Add to BasketSaint Clair Godfrey’s Creek Noble Reserve Riesling is a deliciously complex dessert wine, with a bouquet of clover honey, cinnamon and beeswax. Luscious and silky on the palate with rich orange, apricot and cocoa notes leading to a long, smooth finish.
The fruit for Godfrey’s Creek is grown in the heart of the Marlborough Valley. The vineyard is situated on the Wairau Valley floor, where it experiences early morning dew and light afternoon breezes; a successful combination in the production of Noble Riesling. Select grape bunches were left to hang on the vine until late in the season, promoting raisining and botrytis. The grapes were hand-harvested once the desired level of sugar had been reached. This wine is only made in vintages when the season facilitates the extra hanging time required for the growth of botrytis on the grapes. The vineyard is cultivated according to sustainable practices and is accredited to Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand.

2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, Tahbilk
£1950Add to BasketIn the glass, this wine offers up red to black currant scents infused with black olive and dried herbs followed by some earthy tobacco and stalky cedar notes. Medium-bodied the palate has an even spread of blackcurrant and liquorice fruit underscored by toasty cedar, earth, subtle black olive and spicy dried herbs. Tahbilk’s vineyards are grouped along the banks of the Goulburn River, a branch of it which flows through the estate. The vines are grown at around 134 metres elevation of gently undulating and flat terrain. The soils are sandy loam with ferric oxide content, which varies from very fine sand near the anabranch to denser loams on the plains. Tahbilk has Shiraz vineyards dating back from the 1860s to the 1990s. The oldest surviving block is the ‘1860 block’; planted on its own roots in sandy soils, which has made it impossible for phylloxera to colonise the vine roots.
