This is a wonderfully rich wine that has an intense and complex bouquet rose petals, blueberries and wild herbs. A full-bodied wine with delicious flavours of Morello cherry and vanilla notes through to a smooth finish. Puglian reds can sometimes reflect the heat of this part of Italy a little too much – this wine is strikingly different, fresh and juicy with almost no tannin.

His 2019 Lirac is just that – a concentrated wine with aromas of deep, wild cherry fruits and spicy notes. Full flavoured with a smooth texture, silky tannins and a long, satisfying finish. A portion of the blend was matured in barrel imparting a lovely subtle complexity.
Lirac is an appellation on the western side of the southern Rhône Valley. Domaine de Cigalounes is a seven-hectare property which has been certified organic since 2012. It is located on the rocky plateau between the villages of Tavel and Lirac, on the opposite bank of the Rhône from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The vines are grown according to traditional philosophies, in red soils with pebbly topsoil.

Talo is the surname of one of the winegrowers that have supplied San Marzano for many years. San Marzano recognises the contribution their producers make, with whom they work closely to achieve the best from their land. The outstanding quality of these wines could not be created without them. The vineyard is located in Salento, Puglia at approximately 100 metres above sea level. The soft soil layer is clayey and quite thin, with a good presence of rocks, making it an ideal growing location for vines.

The fruit comes from a combination of vineyards located in the Valle de Maule and the Valle de Colchagua. The grapes was sourced from a selection of vineyards located predominantly in the lower Wairau sub-region. This is what Saint Clair regards as Marlborough’s best subregion for Sauvignon Blanc, producing wines with heightened expression. These vineyards sit on alluvial, silt soils. Each vineyard block was harvested when it reached maximum flavour maturity and physiological ripeness.

2022 Old Vine Chenin Blanc, Olifantsberg
£1795Add to BasketThis is a refined Chenin Blanc showing aromas of crisp green apples, white pear and delicate pineapple layered with subtle oak nuances. Rich and full, with a good depth of fruit and a refreshing feel to balance the rich and creamy palate.
The grapes were grown in unique sites from older vines that have an average age of 37 years. The grapes were hand-harvested and cooled overnight. Bunch sorting took place to ensure only the best grapes were vinified. Fermentation took place in a combination of vessels: 2,000-litre French oak foudres, seasoned barrels and stainless steel tanks. Each vessel resulted in a different expression of Chenin Blanc, imparting a layered dimension to the wine. The wine was aged for nine months on the lees in French oak, which contributed to the complexity and texture of the wine.
