  OPTIMA pays homage to the late Anthonij Rupert, whose dream was to make a Cape wine which could compete with the finest in the world.

  Opulent but genteel and tempting violet-tinged soft black fruit abundance on the nose. The palate is all about texture: silky, velvety, smooth and simultaneously plush. Ripe plums, hedgerow fruit, cocoa, cedar and spice, cigar box flavours makes for an enveloping mouthful. Complex, elegant and beautifully integrated, the oak is seamlessly balanced with the fruit. Lingering and harmonious with not a single element out of place.

  OPTIMA is a carefully selected blend of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon (36%), Cabernet Franc (32%), Merlot (30%) and Petit Verdot (2%) grapes.

  2017 Petit Verdot Mini Ediciones, Finca Decero

  Finca Decero is a world-class wine producer located in the Agrelo sub-appellation of Luján de Cuyo in the northwestern part of the province of Mendoza.  Their famed Remolinos Vineyard derives its name from the little whirlwind spiral formations of soil which form in the afternoon as the gentle wind lifts the dry soil from the paths of the vineyard into swaying ‘dust devils’.  This natural phenomenon draws the attention of our overly protective Lechuza owls in the vineyard who sometimes take flight seemingly to chase them away!

  The 2017 Finca Decero Mini Ediciones Petit Verdot is a bold and expressive red wine crafted from the best grapes grown on the estate’s high-altitude vineyards in Mendoza, Argentina. Made from 100% Petit Verdot grapes that have been carefully harvested and hand-selected before being aged for 14 months in French oak barrels. The result is a deeply concentrated wine with intense aromas of dark berries, toasted oak, and hints of spice. On the palate, this wine is full-bodied with rich and complex flavours of black cherry, black currant, and vanilla. The finish is long and smooth, leaving an unforgettable impression.

  Of this 2017 vintage, only 9,936 bottles were made.

  Groot Constantia is the oldest wine estate in South Africa and has a remarkable history including having King Louis Philippe of France as there best customer!   Today they make exceptional wines in a sub-region of the Western cape called Constantia which is near Cape Town.

  Groot Constantia’s flagship red shows beautiful complexity on the nose, with ripe, rich flavours of blackcurrant, dark chocolate and graphite, enriched by notes of cinnamon and cedar wood from the generous use of new oak. The black fruit and sweet spice follow through to the palate and the firm structure promises excellent ageing potential.

  2018 Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon, Far Niente

  An elegant perfume of mixed berries, baking spice, dried lavender and thyme open onto a full palate layered with expansive mixed berry, black tea, toasted oak and spice flavours. Focused and fresh, fine-grained tannins support the wine throughout, while the finish is silky, long and lifted.

  The Martin Stelling Vineyard, located behind the winery in Oakville, is the cornerstone of Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon. Planted on some of the most beautiful, gravelly loam soil in the Napa Valley, the vineyard uniformly produces wines with supple tannins, bright, vibrant fruit and beautiful tannin structure.
