Rosé d’Anjou is an appellation for rosé wines from the Anjou district of France’s western Loire Valley wine region. The vineyard soils are made up of schist and shelly sand. The grapes were gently pressed after a brief maceration to impart the delicate pink colour to the wine. Fermentation was not completed through to dryness in order to preserve a natural sweetness in the resulting wine.

The vines are grown on the Roussillon plains where the soils are made up of alluvial marls with black schist, which imparts great aromatic complexity to the wines, characterised by notes of black fruits, garrigue and freshness. The vineyard is certified organic.

The terroir in the vineyard is characterised by the ‘Galets’ or large pebbles that are remnants of Alpine glaciers that have been smoothed over millennia by the Rhône. These pebbles absorb and store the heat from the sun during the day and release it at night, encouraging the vines to ripen the grapes. The vines here have established a deep root system enabling them to draw the mineral elements they need to grow and providing a complexity of flavour to the resulting wine. The Mediterranean sunshine is vital to the maturation and phenolic ripeness of the grapes.

The sustainably cultivated grapes come from the Château’s vineyard, situated 15 kilometres south of Nîmes, near the village of Manduel in the heart of the AOP of the Costières de Nîmes. However, winemaker Frank-Lin Dalle has chosen to designate this wine as Vin de France to distinguish the distinctive style of this wine, which has been made without sulphites. Sourced from the best plots of Grenache on the estate, where the main character is the soil, which is formed of ‘galets’, an accumulation of rounded pebbles that have been deposited by the overflowing Rhône River thousands of years ago. Due to this natural soil filter; the vine’s roots can easily draw the necessary water for their growth. The grapes also benefit from the Mediterranean sunshine, encouraging maximum phenolic maturity

Valençay became an AOC appellation in 2003 and is situated in the eastern part of the Loire Valley, approximately 60 miles west of Sancerre. The terroir is characterised by clay, limestone and flinty soils which impart the distinctive mineral characters to the wine. The region is influenced by the northern, cool climate, resulting in lively wines from grapes with characteristic high levels of acidity. Domaine Minchin is certified by Haute Valeur Environmentale and the vineyards are managed according to a strict sustainable philosophy, known as la lutte raisonnée. This 2020 Côtes du Rhône has an enticing nose of concentrated, ripe red berry fruits, enhanced by subtle notes of black pepper and spice. Supple and rounded on the palate, supported by a delicate tannic structure. The Côtes du Rhône vineyards are situated mainly in Gard, with over 50% of the grapes coming from Côtes du Rhône Villages vineyards; the remainder coming from the named parcels of Plan de Dieu and Rasteau. The vineyards all have a stony, granitic soil structure.

White WineA family of winemakers since the 19th century the Michel family vineyards are planted on the first slopes to be farmed by Cistercian monks during the 11th century.
The 25 hectares encapsulate 3 Grand Crus and 7 Premier Crus as well as Chablis and Petit Chablis terroir. Guillaume Michel runs the domaine now, 80% of the vines are farmed organically, he is strictly sustainable in the vineyards with the highest level of HVE certification. Biodiversity is vital to their work with hedgerow populations of insects and a population of bees humming through the vineyards. In the winery, the wines are vinified only in stainless steel, using natural yeasts to preserve the expression of terroir in its purest form. Without the presence of oxygen in the early stages of their development these wines take longer to express themselves in bottle, but richly reward those who wait.
This 2020 Petit Chablis comes from a very special vineyard overlooking the Valmur and Les Clos grand crus. It will reveal floral notes of hawthorn and grape blossom. The wine is particularly lively in the mouth, with sea breezes and a delicious chalky finish.

The Chardonnay vines thrive in climatic conditions similar to those of Burgundy; the vineyard experiences an oceanic climate with continental influences, frequent rain fall and wide temperature ranges. The vines are planted at a density of between 5,000 to 6,000 vines per hectare, which produce concentrated wines. The vines are trellised using espaliers to ensure optimal sunlight exposure, allowing the grapes to ripen evenly. Pruning, de-budding and thinning out of the leaves are all conducted manually and to environmentally-friendly specifications. The grapes are harvested by hand and are transported to the cellar in special bins to preserve the quality of the fruit. The vines are grown in compliance with the rules of sustainable agriculture set by Terra Vitis.
