  Sassicaia’s younger brother Guidalberto consistently offers incredible value from the Tenuta San Guido stable.   Nicolo Incisa della Rocchetta, Tenuta San Guido’s owner, explains how Guidalberto came into being: “first of all, [there was] the desire to see what we could accomplish with Merlot, a grape that we had never used before; second, the desire to offer the consumer a wine which could be appreciated at a younger age compared to our veteran Sassicaia”.

  2022 was another stellar, sun-soaked vintage in Bolgheri where both Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon performed incredibly well. Succulent, fresh and wonderfully defined, Guidalberto is an exhilarating expression of the famous Tenuta San Guido terroir. Its juicy red and black fruits are overlaid with fragrant flowers, tobacco and graphite. There is a beautiful softness to this wine which means it can be enjoyed immediately or cellared for up to 10 years. Drink 2024-2035.

  2022 Sancerre ‘Terre de Silex’, Chateau de Sancerre

  A fresh, invigorating and mineral expression of Sancerre from the famous Silex soils, this stunning cuvée shows beautiful structure and longevity.

  The 55-hectare estate comprises 93 different plots over the five villages of Thauvenay, Ménétréol, Bué, Sancerre and Crézancy. This combination offers the possibility to select from the best plots from a range of terroirs with distinct mesoclimates, resulting in complexity in the wine. The region’s rolling hills and semi-continental climate produce beautifully structured Sauvignon Blancs that are crisp and fresh, evoking aromas of ripe gooseberries, smoke and gunflint notes. The grapes for this cuvée come from two plots rich in clay and with a high flint content, known as Silex. Silex is a type of sedimentary soil which is rich in flint; renowned for imbuing the wines with a distinctive flinty, mineral character.

  The Ataraxia Chardonnay Earthborn Organic – this new organic variation of the highly endowed Chardonnay’s of Ataraxia is truly exceptional! Fermented in 20% new wood, it is taut and tangy, with delicious aromas of mandarin and lemongrass, subtle spices, an impressive structure, stunning depth and exceptional minerality. 

  This “Vin de Terroir” was made from Ataraxia’s first vintage of organic grapes grown on its own vineyards. He presents a journey of conversion to organic principles that began five years ago. Spontaneous and complete barrel fermentation without additives, followed by maturation in specially selected French oak barrels, sourced exclusively from Burgundian coopers, were part of a gentle and minimalist winemaking approach without interfering with the natural vinification processes.

  The 1er Cru of Montmains is one of the best known Premier Cru vineyards and stretches along an exposed hillside to the southwest of the town of Chablis. It is angled slightly east toward the morning sun, the slopes of the vineyard have enough sunshine to ripen grapes, while still retaining the fresh acidity that is so important to Chablis wines. Montmains is known for producing fresh, elegant wines with good minerality.
