  A prestigious property in the Margaux appellation, Château la Tour de Mons has been part of the Médoc landscape since the 13th century and since 2012 it has belonged to the portfolio of the Grands Crus Châteaux and benefits from the advice of the famous oenologist Éric Boissenot.

  Marquis de Mons is 2nd wine from this chateau and this offering comes from spectacularly generous and supple 2015 vintage.  Aromas of refined mulberry, cassis and fresh tobacco with a touch of roasted meat around the edges, alongside a hint well-handled oak. Medium-full bodied with lovely balance and impressive concentration, finishing with soft, satisfying broad-grained tannins.

  2020 Gigondas ‘Classique’ Vieilles Vignes, Domaine Saint Damien

  Joel and Romain Saurel produce amazing Gigondas wines from very old vines around the small hamlet of La Beaumette.  A powerful wine showing sweet fruit, prunes and hints of pepper, joined by hints of garrigue and liquorice.    It’s full-bodied, silky and easy to drink with a smooth texture; fine fruit and structure with a lovely length.

  The belief in the natural expression of terroir led the owners to introduce “la lutte raisonnée” in 1996. The vines are cultivated using sustainable methods and a reduced amount of chemicals, in order to respect the land and its environment. The soils are made up of limestone and clay with glacial deposits.

  The appellation of Santenay lies at the southern extremity of the Cote de Beaune and is famously said to be the home of both the nymph of water and the god of wine as it is both a spa and a winegrowing centre.  Producing mainly Pinot Noir but the chardonnay should not be overlooked as they can be exceptional in their minerality and freshness.

  This very well made Chardonnay from Jean-Baptiste Jessiaume is fresh and zesty with a touch of nuttiness to the nectarine-like aromas. The fruit is high quality as you would expect with delicate weight, gentle oak and minerality adding texture.  The finish is long and persistent.   Drink now to 2030 and match with Turbot and fresh truffles.

  The appellation of Santenay lies at the southern extremity of the Cote de Beaune and is famously said to be the home of both the nymph of water and the god of wine as it is both a spa and a winegrowing centre.  Producing mainly Pinot Noir the wines it produces are characterised by their supple and finely textured mouthfeel.

  This 2019 Santenay La Forge from Jean Baptiste Jessiaume has a nose of redcurrant, raspberry, blueberry and violet,  The palate is precise, dense and textured with lovely integrated oak.  The finish is irresistible with a souring cherry acidity that adds life and balance.   Will age for 10-15 years.

  2015 Cornas ‘Champelrose’, Domaine Courbis

  This is an exceptional Syrah from Domaine Courbis, the masters of Cornas and allegedly there entry-level wine!   Intense and dark, the nose on this gorgeous Syrah immediately strikes you with notes of plum, of dark cherry and violets. The palate is silky, with ripe tannins that build giving the wine volume and a plush mouthfeel.

  ‘Sexy, rounded and voluptuous, the roughly 1,500-case 2015 Cornas Champelrose is the entry-level cuvée that’s all destemmed and aged in 25% new barrels. It’s easily the most approachable in this lineup and has gorgeous notes of cured meats, toasted spice, black raspberries, black cherries and licorice. Full-bodied, layered and rounded, it should drink beautifully on release, but evolve gracefully.’

  2019 Sancerre Cuvee Silex, Domaine Serge Laloue

  Serge Laloue has always been one of our favourite winemakers in the Loire, making incredible Sancerre. This we think is their finest Cuvee, crafted by Franck Laloue the Sancerre Silex has intense aromas of smoky graphite with mineral notes of oyster shell that are complemented by zesty orange peel and Mirabelle plum. This fresh, supple cuvée delivers concentrated citrus flavours through to a bright and uplifting mineral finish.

  The grapes come from a three-hectare estate vineyard, where the vines have an average age of 40 years, producing low yields of concentrated fruit. The vines face a south-easterly orientation, maximising exposure to the sun to assist ripening of the berries. The soils are ‘silex’, a flinty clay that produces elegant wines with distinctive graphite and mineral characters. The vineyard is currently in conversion to organic status, a natural progression for the Laloue family as the farming methods used over many years have followed these principles. Vineyard management techniques include ploughing the soil instead of using herbicides, growing cover crops between the rows of vines and sexual confusion of predators, to maintain the health of the vines and the biodiversity of the environment.

  2019 Sancerre ‘Les Poitevinnes’, Domaine Serge Laloue

  Serge Laloue has always been one of our favourite winemakers in the Loire, making incredible Sancerre.  His ‘Les Poitevinnes’ Cuvee is an elegant and complex expression of Sancerre, with concentrated Mirabelle plum and peach underpinned by delicate hints of liquorice, anise and mineral notes. The lovely rounded texture on the palate is beautifully framed by mineral freshness.

  The grapes are grown in 0.55 hectares of vineyard within the estate, from vines with an average age of 30 to 35 years. The vines face a south-easterly orientation, maximising exposure to the sun to assist the ripening of the berries. The soils are predominantly calcareous clay, which typically has a high limestone content, producing elegant and textured wines with distinctive minerality. The vineyard is currently in conversion to organic status, a natural progression for the Laloue family as the farming methods used over many years have followed these principles.   The Grenache Gris grapes come from the Côtes Catalans, which is the principle IGP allowing only monovarietal wines. The vines thrive at an altitude of 350 metres’ elevation in the Maury terroir, located in the northern part of the Roussillon region. The climate is Mediterranean, strongly influenced by cooling coastal breezes combined with mountain freshness from the foothills of the Pyrenees which balance the hot, arid summers. The soils are made up of alluvial marls of the Roussillon plain, along with black schist; the latter imparts great aromatic complexity to the wines, characterised by freshness and notes of the garrigue. The vineyard is certified organic.

  The Chardonnay grapes come from the Côtes Catalans, which is the principle IGP allowing only mono-varietal wines. The vines thrive at an altitude of 385 metres’ elevation in the Haute Vallée de l’Agly, in the Roussillon region. The climate is Mediterranean, strongly influenced by cooling coastal breezes combined with mountain-freshness from the foothills of the Pyrenees which balance the hot, arid summers. The terroir is made up of a mosaic of black schist soils, which date back to the Cretaceous period. The schistous marl produces shallow soils, which force the vines to send their roots deep in search of water and nutrients. The vineyard is certified
  organic.

  A real purity of fruit is showcased in this elegant Margaux, with an abundance of blackcurrant, black cherry and fruits of the forest, complemented by subtle hints of cedar, toast and cinnamon. Elegant with silky tannins, it is perfectly balanced through to a lingering finish.

  The vineyard is located around the town of Cantenac, neighbouring Château Palmer and Cantenac Brown. Bordeaux enjoys a maritime climate, influenced by the sea, with warm summers and cool winters. The soils are made up of Margaux’s renowned free-draining gravel which contributes to the rich style of wine imbued with finesse and elegance. The vines are trained according to a Double Guyot trellising system and are green harvested in order to concentrate the flavours in the remaining fruit. The grapes are carefully selected and harvested by hand when they have reached optimum maturity.

  A full-flavoured and complex Premier Cru Chablis, delivering rich, ripe fruit enveloped in a creamy texture through to a long, sustained finish.

  Mont de Milieu is a 1er Cru vineyard site located on the eastern banks of the Serein River and produces age-worthy wines from this exceptional terroir. The vines are planted in Kimmeridgian soils, which are rich in clay and limestone with fossilised seashells. Domaine Goulley’s old Chardonnay vines were planted in 1968 and were converted to organic status in 2005, since then it has been cultivated without the use of chemical treatments.

  The vineyard has a south to southwestern exposure and sits at 150 to 190 metres elevation which encourages good diurnal temperature differences, encouraging the grapes to accumulate good fruit concentration while retaining refreshing natural acidity from the cooler nights.

  The 1er Cru of Montmains is one of the best known Premier Cru vineyards and stretches along an exposed hillside to the southwest of the town of Chablis. It is angled slightly east toward the morning sun, the slopes of the vineyard have enough sunshine to ripen grapes, while still retaining the fresh acidity that is so important to Chablis wines. Montmains is known for producing fresh, elegant wines with good minerality.

  2022 Chablis 1er Cru, Beauroy, Agnès and Didier Dauvissat

  Agnes and Didier Dauvissat’s Beauroy sings with racy florals and minerals with surprising richness. The wine sees a tiny amount of oak, giving it a wonderful baked apple, quince paste and citrus personality that complements the minerality and chamomile notes. Long and intriguing, with a slight hint of salinity and sea spray.

  Beauroy is a well-exposed, south-facing premier cru on the left bank of the Serein River, which cuts through the centre of the appellation. It has rich soil of clay and limestone with lots of fossilized oysters.
