Tahbilk holds the largest and oldest single holding of the variety in the world.
This beautiful dessert wine is full of citrus and tropical fruit characters that are complemented by lush marmalade, nutty and honeysuckle notes on a richly opulent palate, refreshed by a mineral-like acidity. Delicious with stinky cheeses or summer puddings or just because you enjoy life on the sweet side!
This wine is named after the practice of cutting the canes, where the fruiting cane is detached from the vine. The bunches of grapes are left to hang prior to harvest, drying the fruit which concentrates the flavours and sugars, resulting in a luscious wine.

2016 Perlat Syrah Montsant, Cellars Unió

DO Montsant is known as the “diamond in the rough” because although it is a DO that was created only a few years ago, it already has a prestigious reputation throughout the world.
Wine has been produced in the Montsant area for thousands of years. It is a very isolated area, depending exclusively on agricultural production methods that respect the environment. Vineyards spread out across the mountainous slopes among olive groves, forests, and stone.
The 2016 Syrah is after 7 years in bottle is fresh and intense with a ruby colour. Crisp and bright with violet tones. In the nose it offers great aromatic complexity. Black
fruit stands at the forefront, accompanied by liquorice and notes of coffee, chocolate and nuts. Very fresh, rich and wellrounded in the mouth. Silky passage in the mouth with notable hints of fruit and a lingering velvety finish. -
2020 Monbazillac, Domaine l’Ancienne Cure
£1850Add to BasketThis organic Monbazillac from Domaine de l’Ancienne Cure is a wonderfully rich sweet wine made from low yields of late-harvested, botrytised, Semillon (90%) and Muscadelle (10%). In the glass, it has a wonderful golden robe, barley sugar bouquet and complex dried fruit palate offset by fine acidity. It has a lovely tawny colour and is richly honeyed with complex notes of dried fruits, nuts and caramel with a heady orange blossom bouquet.
Traditionally, Monbazillac wine is served chilled before the main meal, often as an accompaniment to foie gras, but it makes an equally harmonious partner for fruit-based desserts or cheese, particularly blue cheese. Certified organic.

The Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC title was established in 1968, and covers 74 miles of the eastern Abruzzo coastline and spreads inland for approximately 20 miles. The vineyards are located on the undulating topography created by the Apennine Mountain range. The foothills create ideal mesoclimates, taking advantage of the 2,260 hours of average annual sunshine in the region.

2016 Bouzeron ‘Les Corcelles’, Gouffier

The vineyard is situated in the heart of the AOC Bouzeron in the Côte Chalonnaise. The east-facing plot is planted with an Aligoté strain called ‘Golden’, the vines are low yielding and produce exceptionally aromatic grapes. The climate is continental, with warm summers and cold winters and excellent diurnal temperature differences. The vineyard is cultivated using organic preparations and the use of chemical herbicides is strictly prohibited. The double Guyot trained vines are carefully managed between the spring and summer months to ensure optimal conditions for healthy, mature grapes at harvest time; with strict de-budding, leaf thinning and ploughing of the soil. The vines are grown in marly-chalk soils from the Jurassic period.

This 2016 vintage is invitingly scented, with lively, youthful, lemon and green apple flavours, a hint of toasty, bottle-aged characters, and good concentration.

2016 Refosco, Specogna
£2195Add to BasketThis wine has a deep ruby red colour with violet highlights. The Refosco is characterised by intense notes of red berry fruit, cherries and spice box perfumes. With typically pleasant acidity and good tannins, the wine has a lovely structure and body.
The family now has 16 hectares of vineyard on the hill of Rocca Bernarda in the heart of the Colli Orientali DOC zone. The vineyards are beautifully tended by Graziano Specogna, and the quality of the fruit he brings to the winery is impeccable. As a result, he is keen to get as much flavour as possible from the grapes. Grapes for the Refosco are grown at 170 metres above sea level on the Eastern Friuli hills. The soil is loam and planting density is up to 3,500 plants per hectare. The vineyards were planted in 1968 and vines are Guyot trained.

2016 Chateau Lucas
£2200Add to BasketThe area of Lussac is an up and coming satellite appellation of the renowned Saint Emilion region on the the Right Bank of Bordeaux. There is no doubt that one of Lussac’s most prized properties is Château Lucas, owned by the Vauthier family of Château Ausone fame. From just 18 hectares of vines, three cuvée are produced. The top wine, aptly called Château Lucas, is produced from a 12-hectare vineyard, comprising equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Franc. While so much of the Right Bank focuses on Merlot, the high percentage of Cabernet Franc brings a polished lift to the cuvée, vintage in and vintage out.
In the glass it opens with aromatics of raspberry and blackcurrant interlaced with plum and vanilla notes. The palate is round and balanced with flavours of earthy spices, tobacco and blackcurrants that lead into a sustained finish.

2022 Assyrtiko, Jim Barry
£2350Add to BasketThis wine is a pale straw colour in the glass. Opens with lifted notes of rose water florals and pear. A generous palate packed with lemon butter and pear fruit. The palate has depth, with some chalky texture anchoring the generous and rich fruit and a drawn-out refreshing citrus finish. The wine has been praised for its similarity to its Greek counterpart and has great natural acidity with flavours of pear, apricot and apple.
“I first tasted Assyrtiko in August 2006 while on holiday with my wife Sue on the Greek island of Santorini, the birthplace of the Assyrtiko grape variety. The crisp, acidic qualities reminded me of our Clare Valley Rieslings and yet it was a flavour I had not experienced before. Intrigued with this newfound variety, I began the process of importing cuttings into Australia through quarantine. In August 2012 we planted Australia’s first Assyrtiko at our Lodge Hill Vineyard, a special and unique site treasured by my family and suited to this variety. Our ten-year Assyrtiko journey has been fascinating and has enabled us to produce a wine which, I believe, is a true expression of the variety. 2016 Basket Pressed The Cabernets, Skillogalee
£2395Add to BasketMatured in a combination of French and American oak hogsheads this classically styled Clare Valley Shiraz displays a totally opaque inky black crimson colour with dark crimson black tinged hue. Luscious ripe blackberry and liquorice top notes exude from the glass followed by some dark chocolate, vanillin oak and a faint hint of spearmint as an endnote. Rich and full-bodied the palate features a plush flavour profile of ripe blackberry, dark plum and liquorice over some spearmint and vanillin oak-like characters. Velvet smooth tannins with long blackberry, liquorice, spearmint and vanillin oak aftertaste.
The fruit for this wine comes from un-irrigated, hand-pruned and hand-picked vines grown at Skillogalee around 450m above sea level. The wine was vinified in open fermenters and then basket-pressed. No fining was needed. Malo-lactic (secondary) fermentation and maturation took place in predominantly French oak hogsheads for around 24 months, before the separate components were blended and bottled.

The Chenin blanc grapes come from 40-year-old, dry land farmed bush vines in the Swartland, and a 36-year-old vineyard from Bot River, called ‘Langbene’ (Long legs) – named after the unique and extremely long trunks of the vines. The Verdelho grapes come from Voor-Paardeberg, grown in decomposed granite and clay as well as a vineyard in Bot River grown in Bokkeveld shale. The decomposed granite soils produce a rich, generous and broader palate, while the shale and clay soil from Bot River produces an austere, focused, and texture driven wine. A combination of these two regions, together with the Verdelho that adds the freshness, combine to create a well-balanced wine, both rich and generous and elegant and well-poised, with a mineral focus and bright acidity.A nose of white peach, lemon rind and jasmine with green melon, green apple and a crystalline, wet stone minerality adding freshness and focus. Crunchy, puckering acidity supports a full-bodied, mouth-coating palate with brioche and tart lemon curd leading to a long, pithy finish.
