The 2012 Arthurs Creek Chardonnay is a wine of wonderful texture and intensity has is representative of its old vine vineyard. Marked by punchy, pineapple and citrus aromas, this is a medium-bodied Chardonnay with ample richness and texture. Custard and citrus flavours finish long and mouthwatering. This wine is a rare beast as it is no longer made. A delicious taste of history!
White WineWehlener Sonnenuhr is a precipitously steep and rocky vineyard that yields some of the most elegant and sophisticated white wines in the world. It has very light soil and the purest blue slate of any Mosel vineyard. This gives the wine a lively minerality and a delicate, crisp acidity that perfectly balances the bright flavours of white peach and lemon. It’s an aristocratic and charming wine that dances gracefully on the palate.
Spätlese is a richer, bolder style of Riesling made from healthy grapes harvested a week or more later than Kabinett. The longer hang time increases the sugar ripeness of the fruit, giving it higher potential alcohol (11–12 percent). It also increases the “aromatic ripeness,” which brings deeper, more developed white and yellow fruit flavours to the wine. Fermentation is stopped at a finished alcohol level similar to Kabinett. Since the potential alcohol of the unfermented juice is higher, Spätlese will typically have more residual sweetness than Kabinett.

The fruit comes exclusively from the two estate vineyards in the cool-climate area of Sta. Rita Hills AVA: the Sanford & Benedict Vineyard and the La Rinconada Vineyard. The unusual east-west orientation of the nearby Santa Ynez Mountains, allows cooling maritime breezes from the Pacific Ocean- just seven miles away- to flow over the vineyards, bringing with them morning fog. Afternoon breezes dry out any residual moisture and reduce disease pressure on the vines and clusters. This distinctive mesoclimate promotes a long growing season. The vineyard is split into 52 blocks, each with individual soil composition and microclimate. Broadly, the marine-based soils in the ‘Sanford & Benedict Vineyard’ are a mixture of clay, loam, fractured shale and chert (rocky soil) which force the vine’s roots to dig deep into the soil for nutrients and hydration. The result is naturally low yields of small-berried, concentrated fruit delivering excellent minerality and acidity. The ‘La Rinconada Vineyard’ is made up of sandy, gravelly soil, which imparts precise minerality.

Head winemaker Julio Saenz refers to it as “our little Burgundy” because of how closely it represents this unique location. In fact, the wine itself is a field blend, 95% Tempranillo with 5% other varieties including Mazuelo, Garnacha, and even Viura. The chalk soils and 80-year-old vines at Torre de Oña produce a fuller, riper style of Rioja, while the high altitude and Atlantic influence in Rioja Alavesa keeps the wine fresh and elegant. This style is complemented by the use of 20% French oak and shorter maturation, alongside La Rioja Alta’s ultra-traditional methods such as racking by hand.

White WineThe Eden Road Maragle Chardonnay is a stunning wine and it’s often compared to Grand Cru Chablis in terms of its style, texture and flavours.
The grapes used for this Maragle chardonnay come from a small vineyard in the Maragle Valley, south of the Tumbarumba village, at an altitude of 400 metres above sea level. It is a unique site that generally produces more powerfully structured chardonnay compared to other vineyards in the region.
The aroma presents a complex, yet pristine notes of grapefruit, citrus blossom and white peach, with a touch of struck match character. The gorgeous palate also reveals pear, green apple and pristine minerality, mouth-watering freshness that is the alpine snowy mountains. On the palate it is beautifully long, powerful, driven with elegance & restraint.
The winemaking is kept very simple in order to express the terroir of this special Maragle vineyard. The fruit is handpicked and whole bunch pressed directly to French oak without settling. The juice is then simply fermented and matured in French oak with some ‘battonage’ stirring for 12 months.

Plush and dusty, this splendid Merlot offers unusual depth and texture and has clearly benefited from it’s 9 years of sleeping. Along with black cherry fruit come highlights of herb and olive, spicy oak and rich earth. The density and detail carry through a long finish.
Red WineLot 21 Pinot Noir is a complex and elegant wine, with delicate aromas of strawberries, red cherries, orange peel and herbs with a subtle earth complexity. The first impression on the palate is of fresh, sweet red berries. The middle palate has nice volume with concentrated cherry flavours and soft ripe tannins that cover the entire tongue. The finish is bright and lingering.

Here the maritime influence and summer breezes create an extraordinary environment for Burgundian varieties like Pinot Noir. This special wine comes from a selected parcel where all labour is performed by hand, by women only and vine by vine. Clusters are carefully selected to keep yields extremely low. Less than 1.75 pounds of fruit is produced by each plant.

The 10 year old vineyard is cultivated following the principles of organic and biodynamic cultivation and is in conversion to organic status.

In the glass the 2021 Marsannay Les Longeroies opens with aromas of rose and violet. The palate is rich and lush with spice, raspberry and blackcurrant. Overall it is a fine of excellent balance and drive.
The grapes for this wine come from exceptional vineyard “Les Longeroies,” which is almost universally expected to be crowned one of Marsannay’s first-ever Premier Crus (along with “Clos du Roy”) in the near future.
