2000 Tokaji Aszu Eszencia ‘Imperium’, Chateau Dereszla, 375ml
Original price was: £12000.£7200Current price is: £7200. 40% savingAdd to BasketChâteau Dereszla is world-renowned for its sweet wines made from grapes affected by Botrytis cinerea, also known as “noble rot”. The wine is made from hand-picked grapes from Chateau Dereszla’s finest plots and made into a paste, which is then added to a base wine for fermentation for 14 days. The wine is then aged in French oak for more than 2 years prior to bottling. The elegant label replicates a design created by Carl Faberge for Dereszla’s centenary in 1907.
This is a sensational Tokaji Aszu Eszencia from Dereszla. Only produced in the very finest years, (made twice by Dereszla in the last 22 years), and now a defunct classification, this is a very rare slice of history in a bottle. Incredibly sweet yet with perfectly poised acidity, the wine has a complex apricot and Seville orange marmalade fruit character mingled with spice and gingerbread notes. With an impressive 252 grams per litre of sugar, it is no wonder the wine is syrupy and very rich, but the constant freshness provided by the acidity keeps the wine balanced and makes it a wonderful match to dark chocolate desserts, good quality cheeseboards and rich pates.

£7500Add to BasketThe Paringa Chardonnay is the estates top chardonnay wine and a single vineyard wine.
The bouquet has a complex floral lift of citrus and stone fruit, with some delicate lees aromas. This Chardonnay has a round, textured palate harmoniously balanced by a fine natural acidity that leads to a long, persistent finish.

2017 The Old Bloke and The Three Young Blonds, d’Arenberg
£7500Add to BasketA mix of gnarly, old Shiraz partnered with youthful, exotic and fragrant white varieties. The Shiraz offers a nose brimming with dark, earthen fruits, woody spices and rich blackberry aromas. Viognier adds fragrance in the form of apricot, ginger and florals, Roussanne delivers an exotic, dried almond and papaya note, and the Marsanne contributes pistachio and yellow stonefruit.
The palate is generous, with layers of fruit characters that ebb and flow through the entire length. The tannin structure is unique, thanks to the mingling of red and white phenolics. The rustic, chunky, mid-palate Shiraz tannins are tempered by the lusciousness of the white varieties, the finish enhanced by the addition of fragrant, flowery tannins, mainly on account of the Viognier and more nutty, walnut skin texture, from the Roussanne.
A complex and alluring wine that evolves in the glass. So much individual character and much to take in, but somehow we are left with a sense of harmony between the old bloke and the three young blondes.

2012 3D Pinot Noir, Clifton Brewer
£7950Add to BasketThis is an outstanding Pinot Noir from the renowned Brewer-Clifton. The 3D vineyard is nestled between Lafond and Ampelos in the Santa Rita Hills and was the first vineyard planted by the Greg Brewer and Steve Clifton in 2007. It is pure and elegant on the nose with expressive aromas of red cherries, candied raspberry and strawberry. The palate is expansive with flavours of sweet fruits, tea leaf and fine spices. Lovely structure and precision here. Incredible finesse and purity.
At Brewer Clifton they strive to remove the winemaker’s signature, allowing the voice of the vineyard to be the overriding expression. Only neutral barrels are employed and they strive for whole cluster fermentation, interestingly the fruit from each vineyard is handled identically from harvest to bottling, allowing the true essence of each site to be expressed.
They also farm with a focus of ripening the stems of the bunch alongside the fruit, allowing the cluster to be in harmony. Working with the stems allows for wines that are structured, earthy and balanced with the exceptional Santa Rita Hills fruit. The analogy they use is roasting fish or meat on the bone, the bone offers complex flavours very different than taking it off of the bone to cook it.
