The vines are grown at high altitude in Cafayate, situated at 1,700 metres above sea level surrounded by the Andes Mountains. Cafayate is one of the highest regions in the world suitable for viticulture and this high altitude is what defines the terroir of the region. The vines are exposed to intense sunlight which results in the grapes forming thicker and darker skins to protect themselves from the ultraviolet rays; leading to more colour and flavour concentration in the grapes. The diurnal temperature difference results in an extended ripening season, producing concentrated grapes bursting with flavour but with a balanced structure.
Brick-red in colour, with delicious aromas of ripe red berries, tobacco and stewed prunes, enveloping a voluptuous palate with refined sweetness and wonderful balance. The wine was aged in old, used French oak barrels for five years- the length of time required for an ‘hors d’âge’ wine.
The Rivesaltes AOC is flanked by the Mediterranean Sea to the east and surrounded by mountain ranges with the Pyrenees to the west, and the Albères to the south. In geological terms, the appellation endured enormous upheavals in the tertiary and quaternary periods, which created a complex variety of soils, subsoils and a multitude of terroirs. The terroir ranges from the Quaternary Terraces with red pebbles resting on shallow soils, on a clay subsoil with low water reserves which is where the Grenache Noir vines are planted- the variety used to produce the Rivesaltes Tuilé cuvée.
The Field Street Shiraz is made from fruit sourced from vineyards that surround the estate’s Oliver Road home. In every sense, this wine is at the heart of the S.C. Pannell label. This wine is stripped back from the artifice of winemaking to express the purity and breadth of McLaren Vale Shiraz. On the nose there is a lovely purity of fruit, aromas of violets are coupled with the beautiful perfume of a punnet full of fresh berries. The palate is medium-bodied, velvety and plush, with lovely, earthy tannins and a lifted finish.
Quinta de Quercus winemaker Sam Harrop produces single vineyard and parcel wines from 44 hectares of high-altitude, sustainably grown vineyards in central Castile. This 2017 Quinta de Quercus is a single-vineyard wine made from the hillside plantings of 30-year-old Tempranillo.
In the glass, it has intense aromas of ripe blackberries that are enhanced by subtle herbal notes and refined layers of oak spice and clove. Full-bodied and concentrated, yet juicy and vibrant, this wine delivers a beautifully textured palate of velvety, finely-knit tannins and a precise, long finish. This wine is age-worthy and will drink very well into the late 2020s.
The grapes are grown in a single parcel called Viña Ocaña, which is the oldest vineyard plot on the Quinta de Quercus estate. Situated at 800 metres above sea level, the altitude imparts a distinct freshness to the wine. The warm days are tempered by cool nights and this temperature difference helps to retain the acidity in the grapes balancing the concentrated flavours.
This natural wine is a blend of Mourvèdre, Carignan and Garnacha with a dollop of Syrah. It has enticing aromas of forest fruits, cherry, raspberry and mulberry are laced with vanilla and tobacco nuances through to a rounded palate with a fine tannin structure and a persistent fruity finish.
The fruit comes from a combination of vineyards located in the Valle de Maule and the Valle de Colchagua. In the Valle de Maule, the ancient soils are made up of granitic sandy loam, which is formed from granite from the Coastal Mountains. The soils are full of quartz and are mineral-rich, which enables the vines to express their full fruit potential. In the Valle de Colchagua, the alluvial soil offers excellent drainage properties, oxygenation and deep development of the vine’s roots, which creates exceptional conditions for the production of high-quality fruit.
Le Cèdre Héritage Rouge is an organic expression of red Cahors, made from Malbec (95%) and Merlot (5%) grapes. Matured in oak for up to 18 months it offers complex aromas of plums, cherries and spice. The smooth palate is full of crunchy blueberry fruits, cherries and spices and has a long satisfying finish.
Lifted aromas of passionfruit, melon and blackcurrant combine with subtle mineral notes. The rich and full palate, is exquisitely balanced with vibrant notes of passionfruit, grapefruit and guava leading to a long mineral finish.

The vines are cultivated according to “la lutte raisonnée”, using sustainable agricultural methods and reducing the amount of chemicals in order to respect the land and its environment. The grapes are grown in the San Floriano del Collio, Gorizia, Cormòns and Mossa territories in DOC Collio. The soils on the hilly region are known as ‘Ponca’, which rich in sandstone with alternating layers of marl, which produces aromatic wines. The soils offer a good balance of water retention to nourish the vines throughout the summer and ample drainage if required. Gentle sea breezes come from the Adriatic Sea which keep the vines dry and healthy, while the Alps protect the vineyards from cold, northerly winds. Warm days and cool nights offer the perfect combination to allow slow maturation of the grapes, maintaining beautiful balance between natural acidity and sugar levels.
White WineThe Yealands Seaview Vineyard in the Awatere Valley is one of New Zealand’s most coastal vineyards. Breath-taking vistas of rolling hills and wild coastline define the Yealands wines. The strong offshore winds encourage the grapes to grow small with thickened skins and wonderfully concentrated characteristics.
The L5 Block is situated in a very exposed area right on the coastline of the Seaview Vineyard. It is the coolest, most extreme site on the vineyard and the subsequent wine reflects this terroir – mineral, salty, crushed oyster shell and wet stone are just a few of the flavours that characterise this unique wine. The grapes were harvested from a single vineyard in Marlborough’s Blind River area of the Awatere Valley. The Blind River area is building a very good reputation for its ability to produce wines with concentrated citrus expression. The climate for this area is typically very dry. The grapes were harvested at the peak of flavour development in the cool of the evening.
Mendel’s Apertura Malbec comes from the estate’s own vineyards located in an exceptional terroir of Luján de Cuyo with a view of the Sierras de Lunlunta.
