2022 ‘Origin’ Sauvignon Blanc, Saint Clair

The rich, full palate with grapefruit and blackcurrant leaf is enveloped in green notes of nettle and pepper and a delicate sea salt character, through to a long, mineral finish.
The grapes was sourced from a selection of vineyards located predominantly in the lower Wairau sub-region. This is what Saint Clair regards as Marlborough’s best subregion for Sauvignon Blanc, producing wines with heightened expression. These vineyards sit on alluvial, silt soils. Each vineyard block was harvested when it reached maximum flavour maturity and physiological ripeness.

The Grüner Veltliner vines are grown in the Wachau, the most prestigious viticultural area in Austria. The vineyard is located on the steep terraces of the Spitzer Valley with proximity to the Danube. The temperature variation in the valley, with warmer days and cooler nights, has a significant role to play in the ripening of the berries. The vines are grown in Gneiss soils, made up of schist and granite with a high mineral content.

In the glass red fruit aromas complement complex notes of mocha, coffee, vanilla and nutty oak flavours. Round and balanced, with ripe tannins and a velvety texture that leads to a long finish.
The Agiorgitiko (pronounced Ah-yor-YEE-te-ko) and Mavroudi (Mav-ROO-dee) vines are grown on the peninsula of Maleus at the edge of the Parnonas mountain range. The elevation of the vineyard ranges from zero to 500 metres. Surrounded by the Myrtoo Sea to the northwest and by the Laconian Gulf to the southwest, the vineyards are influenced by Mediterranean climate with high sunshine hours and sea breezes. The soils are acidic and are low in organic matter. All these factors contribute in creating a unique terroir and the climatic conditions present an ideal environment for healthy vines, which are cultivated with minimal intervention.

2021 Pinot Grigio ‘Villa Canlungo’, Collavini

The grapes are grown in the San Floriano del Collio, Gorizia, Cormòns and Mossa territories in DOC Collio. The soils on the hilly region are known as ‘Ponca’, which rich in sandstone with alternating layers of marl, which produces aromatic wines. The soils offer a good balance of water retention to nourish the vines throughout the summer and ample drainage if required. Gentle sea breezes come from the Adriatic Sea which keep the vines dry and healthy, while the Alps protect the vineyards from cold, northerly winds. Warm days and cool nights offer the perfect combination to allow slow maturation of the grapes, maintaining beautiful balance between natural acidity and sugar levels.

Breath-taking vistas of rolling hills and wild coastline define the Yealands wines. The L5 Block is situated in a very exposed area right on the coastline of the Seaview Vineyard. It is the coolest, most extreme site on the vineyard and the subsequent wine reflects this terroir – mineral, salty, crushed oyster shell and wet stone are just a few of the flavours that characterise this unique wine. 2019 Carignan, Olifantsberg

The vineyard is located on the slopes of the Olifantsberg Mountain Range where it endures wide diurnal temperature differences and strong winds. The grapes for this wine are from 100% bush vines grown on soils with a high percentage of shale and quartz. This is the rockiest vineyard on the farm and is planted at 350 metres above sea level. The vines are densely planted and endure a very dry and tough micro climate due to the high amount of rocks in the soil. The combination of rocky soils and high density planting, results in competition between the vines and in turn deeper root systems. The deep root systems enable the vine to develop a good buffer during drought conditions. The rocky soils also add more stress, so the vines deliver very small berries with a concentrated fruit, good body and fresh acidity.

Inspired by the first visit of a reigning monarch to Australia in 1954, Mount Pleasant ‘Philip’ Shiraz is the personification of a distinguished family history dating back more than 130 years. Made in an authentic Hunter Shiraz style, this complex wine is crafted from small parcels cultivated in the premium subregion of Pokolbin in the Hunter Valley.
Ample notes of fresh red and black berried fruits, subtle oak spice and hints of blueberry lead to a beautifully balanced palate with finely woven tannins and impeccable length.

This excellent value Bordeaux, opens in the glass with an appealing complex bouquet (ripe grapes, wood, and spices). On the palate, it is a full and well-balanced wine.
