  Made from 100% Godello, this refreshing white combines delicate floral notes with fresh fruit, spice and mineral tones. Harmoniously balanced with a textured palate through to a long and elegant finish.

  The DO Valdeorras is an inland Galician appellation in northern Spain, which is becoming renowned for its white wines from the Godello grape. The grapes for Mais Ala come from 30-year-old vines, grown in a single vineyard named ‘A Barca en a Falcoeira’. The vineyard is set on the hillside at an altitude of 600 to 650 metres above sea level, where cooler nights give diurnal temperature differences encouraging the natural acidity to remain in the grapes resulting in a fresh style of wine. The vines are planted at a density of 4,000 vines per hectare and are nourished by granitic soils; specifically the local decomposed granitic-sandy soil known as ‘Xabre’. Manual harvest takes place at optimal maturity.

  2017 ‘Superheroe’, Xosé Lois Sebio

  The ‘Superheroe’ from Xosé Lois Sebio is a layered fragrant blend highlighting notes of violet, blackberry, redcurrant and plums, combined with subtle hints of black pepper and mineral tones. Elegant and expansive on the palate, offering concentrated fruit, fine tannins with a balancing freshness. The rich yet vibrant finish is wonderfully intense and long.

  This wine is from the DO Ribeiro, which means ‘River Bank’ in Galician, as it is located along the Miño river and its tributaries, in Galicia, North West Spain. A blend of indigenous varieties, the vines range from 40 to 70 years old. These vines are low yielding and produce small, concentrated, flavoursome berries. Planted at an altitude of 150 to 350 metres above sea-level, the vines are free-standing and trained with a stake in the traditional manner, at a density of 1.25 x 1.25 metres. The soils are clay with schist, the latter imparting mineral tones to the wine. The 35% of ‘other grapes’ in the blend is a field blend of Ferrol, Souson, Brancellao, Bastardo, Caiño Longo, Caiño da Terra, Carabuñeira and Tinta Marela. The grapes are grown mixed together in the same parcel which was planted between 70 to 90 years ago in the traditional manner at the time. The grapes are manually harvested simultaneously with each variety offering a unique characteristic to the blend.

  A textured and richly flavoured Sancerre with intense herbaceous, gooseberry and citrus aromas, beautifully balanced by a vibrant and refreshing crisp palate.

  The Sancerre appellation in Central France surrounds the eponymous town, which sits atop a hill overlooking the River Loire. The grapes for this cuvée are grown in vineyards which are located on these hilly slopes and are planted across the three main soil types of Sancerre. Les Caillottes, which is made up of a high proportion of stony fragments of coarse Kimmeridgian limestone upon a clay subsoil and the wines from these soils impart aromatic structure and freshness; Les Terres Blanches which are made up of Kimmeridgian marl and is extremely rich in fossilised shellfish and has the distinctive characteristic of turning white when it dries, hence its local name, which translates as ‘white earth’. These wines from this soil offer complexity, opulence and great aromatic finesse. Finally the flinty Silex soils which impart minerality; all three soils types have the common thread of a high proportion of clay.

  The subtle combination of smoky and ripe fruit aromas preludes a palate of candied pineapple, peach and mango flavours. Elegant and fresh, with the characteristic smoky note of a great Pouilly Fumé.

  Pouilly-Fumé is the Sauvignon Blanc appellation located on the Right Bank of the Loire River. The appellation was created in 1937 originally as Blanc Fumé de Pouilly. Pouilly- Fumé takes its name from Pouilly-sur-Loire, the village from which the wines originate; while ‘Fume’ refers to Blanc Fumé, the local synonym for Sauvignon Blanc. Fumé translates as ‘smoky’, which denotes the struck gunflint notes that characterise the wines. The Sauvignon Blanc grapes that produced this cuvée are grown on the main Pouilly Fumé terroirs of Villiers and Barrois, where the soils are made up of limestone, marls with oyster shells and clayey-flint ‘Silex’ soils. It is these flinty ‘Silex’ soils, which impart the characteristic smoky flavours in the wine.

  While Cantele’s approach to grape growing and winemaking is rooted in the traditions of Salento viticulture, it doesn’t mean that the current generation of the Cantele family doesn’t continue to experiment and push the boundaries of southern Italian winemaking.

  One of its most critically acclaimed projects has been AMATIVO, a wine made from a blend of two of Puglia’s most important red grape varieties: Negroamaro and Primitivo. And the name of the wine, like the blend, is a composite of the grapes that go into it: AMA from the amaro in Negroamaro and TIVO from Primitivo.

  An “international-style” wine created by blending two native grapes from Puglia, the flavour profile of this cuvée gets its earthiness from the Negroamaro and its rich fruit character from the Primitivo. While the Negroamaro imparts freshness and just the right amount of tannic structure, the Primitivo gives the wine balance through its rich red fruit flavour.

  Le P’tit Paysan Cabernet Sauvignon offers intense blackberry, dark cherry aromas, chocolate, herbaceous and toasty notes on the palate. Medium-bodied, well-balanced with moderate and integrated tannins that give structure and liveliness to the wine.

  Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from two vineyards, a 44-year-old vineyard planted in the calcareous alluvial deposits of the San Benito River and a 25-year-old vineyard east of Gilroy, which grows in deep, extremely sandy soils against the foothills of the Diablo Range. The Petite Verdot from the Paicines AVA and grows in rocky alluvial deposits above the Tres Pinos arroyo. All three vineyards experience the warm days and cold nights typical of the Central Coast, allowing these late-ripening Bordeaux varieties to be picked at high acidity and moderate sugars. Fermented whole berry in several lots with endemic yeasts, pressed after approximately 20 days. Aged for 11 months (3% new) French barrels.   Lismore Estate is based in Greyton within the Overberg region of the Western Cape of South Africa.  It’s here with the Sonderend mountains as a backdrop that winemaker & proprietor Samantha O’Keefe makes her fabulous wines.

  This Viognier is a reflection of Samantha’s obsession with how the special soil, climate and a mysterious sense of place come together to produce an extraordinary wine that tells you its story. The vines are grown on rose-quartz soils in Elgin, which is a cool, high altitude plateau. The region offers a lengthened ripening period which brings the grapes late into the season, often three to four weeks later than traditional wine-growing areas in South Africa.   Sebastien Dampt is fast rising to the top echelons of Chablis winemaking.  Year upon year, he delivers remarkable wines that are an ode to the regional terroir, reflecting both their devotion to winemaking and the rich heritage of Chablis. The domain is undoubtedly a perfect embodiment of tradition that meets modernity in wine-making.

  This 2022 Chablis is made from five parcels of old vines (40-60 years old) that surround the Domaine in the village of Milly.   It’s seriously good Chablis, bone dry, chalky, with notes of Granny Smith apple and citrus fruits and a firm, mineral finish.

  In terms of vinification, Sébastien keeps it simple. His approach is traditional, as he learned from his father and grandfather. In Chablis, this means fermentation and maturation in steel tanks. Sébastien does not use winemaking techniques such as battonage or wood ageing; he is all about pure grape and terroir expression. The wine does undergo the usual malolactic fermentation in Chablis, which rounds out the acids just a little more.
