2016 Abednego GSM, Grant Burge
£5450Add to BasketThe Abednego completes the Icon trio from Grant Burge Wines, sitting alongside the highly awarded Meshach and Shadrach which are Grant’s flagship Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is 100% Barossa using fruit sourced from Grant’s own vineyards with an average age of 110 years. The old vines deliver fruit with incredible concentration and depth giving the resultant wine the ability to develop over many years. The iconic 2016 Abednego is a richly flavoured and elegantly structured wine with a beautifully balanced palate, complemented by flavours of plums, spice and liquorice with hints of vanilla. The dense, mouth-filling mid-palate and long, textural finish combine to create a wine that is rich and elegant. Drink now to 2035.
The origin of the name of this wine comes from the fact that Abednego in Hebrew means the ‘Servant of Nego’, the Babylonian god of wisdom. Abednego, with Shadrach and Meshach, were cast into the fiery furnace by King Nebuchadnezzar in 600BC. Grant Burge named his flagship and icon Shiraz Meshach (after his great grandfather Meshach Burge 1843-1942), and the icon Cabernet Sauvignon Shadrach (inspired by the story). This wine is Abednego to completer the trio with a trio of the Barossa’s finest grape varieties.

2011 Meres Pinot Noir, Kooyong
£5500Add to BasketThe vineyard name originates from the surrounding water bodies – the dams which flank the block on all sides.
Its greater exposure to the north, west and east limits the vigour of the vines, while the sandier soil reduces water stress compared to Ferrous and Haven. These factors combine to make the wine silken, perfumed and approachable when young, as well as having flavour concentration and ageing potential. This 2011 is full of life with red cherry, redcurrant, alluring rose petal and savoury notes dominating the nose and palate. The tannins have softened over the years but are fine and silky.

2009 Haven Pinot Noir, Kooyong
£5500Add to BasketKooyong’s Haven Pinot Noir is a great Pinot Noir and exceptional with a few years of age
Almost indistinguishable from a Premier Cru Vosne Romanée, this gradually uncurls with swirling to reveal focused spicy, smokey, gamey aromas, permeate in the mouth with hints of anise and heather over succulent black cherry fruit. Well-structured, with richness and a warm, enveloping texture.

£5500Add to BasketAn intensely flavoured but elegant Amarone, with concentrated flavours of ripe blueberries, blackberries and cherries, enhanced by spicy oak. The palate is rich, full bodied and complex, with beautiful balance and a long, elegant finish.
Punta 470 takes its name from the altitude of Ca’Rugate’s six hectare estate vineyard in the hills around Montecchia di Crosara, where the grapes are grown at 470 metres above sea-level. This elevation allows the grapes to retain balancing acidity to the concentrated fruits and enables Ca’ Rugate to produce a wine which is elegant and food-friendly.

2017 ‘Altazor’, Undurraga
£5995Add to BasketAn exceptional wine revealing expressive aromatic layers, balanced concentration and wonderful complexity. Deep red fruits and blackberries are underpinned by earthy nuances, subtle spice and mineral notes with a touch of tobacco. The structured palate shows depth of flavour and integrated tannins, through to an everlasting finish. Drinking Window 2022 – 2030
The grapes for this wine were carefully selected from small plots. The Cabernet Sauvignon comes from estate vineyards planted in the early 1990s, in Pirque and Los Morros, in Alto Maipo. The Pirque vineyard contains alluvial soils with medium composition with a high level of stone content, whereas Los Morros consists of soils of colluvial-alluvial origin. Both soil types have medium to low fertility, good depth of 1.5 to 2 metres and good drainage; ideal conditions to produce wines of character. The Carménère grapes come from an estate vineyard in the Colchagua Valley planted in the mid-1980s. The clay loam soil textures are dominant which is ideal for this variety as they retain soil moisture ensuring optimum and prolonged ripening. The Carignan grapes come from a rain-fed vineyard planted in 1958, in the Maule Valley. It contains soils with clay texture, high quartz content, subsoil of granitic origin and good drainage.

2018 Coolart Road Pinot Noir, Ten Minutes By Tractor
£5995Add to BasketCoolart Road is a classic single vineyard site made at Ten Minutes by Tractor.
Our Coolart Road vineyard was planted in 2000 and is situated in the lower, northern part of the Mornington Peninsula. It has a gentle north-easterly sloping aspect facing Western Port and Phillip Island.
Coolhart is picked earlier than the other Ten Minutes vineyards and is made with more whole bunches. This 2018 has an impish energy to it that makes it perhaps the most approachable Pinot Noir in the range when young. Full of cherry fruit with a dash of vanilla and tomato leaf, it’s even and spicy with just a hint of jam. Love the open fruit of this vintage, yet with a spicy finish too.
The almost smoky edge would make this perfect with a smoky bresaola charcuterie platter.

2022 Porseleinberg Syrah
£6500Add to BasketPorseleinberg is the result of Marc Kent’s (of Boekenhoutskloof fame) determined search for South Africa’s finest Syrah, a journey that ultimately led him to the Swartland. There, atop the windswept Porseleinberg mountain, he discovered a remote, rugged farm with schist-rich soils, which is now recognised as one of the world’s great Syrah sites.
Established as a single-vineyard project and owned by Boekenhoutskloof, Porseleinberg is meticulously farmed and vinified by winemaker Callie Louw, whose mastery and vision have elevated every vintage since the inaugural 2010 release. Focused exclusively on Syrah, the estate captures the raw power and beauty of its unique terroir, producing wines that are consistently acclaimed for their authenticity, complexity, and age-worthy elegance.
