2021 Pinot Noir Gran Reserva, Viña Echeverría
£1675Add to BasketThe Gran Reserva range wines have undergone fermentation or ageing in oak barrels, resulting in more full-bodied wines with a greater scope of complex flavours. Focus is on French varietals, barrels and yeasts, which makes this range more stylistically European but with New World intensity and flavour.
This elegant Pinot Noir combines aromas of strawberries, black cherries and raspberries with hints of chocolate and mocha. The palate is round and soft, with refreshing acidity and balanced fruit.
The vineyard is located in the Casablanca Valley, a cool-climate coastal region close to the Pacific Ocean approximately 47 miles north of Santiago. The proximity to the sea results in a Mediterranean climate, with pronounced maritime influence. The cooling sea breezes from the cold Humboldt stream, tempers the heat of the warm, sunny days and creates cool foggy mornings, ideal for top quality Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

2020 Swartland Rouge, Kloof Street
£1675Add to BasketProduced by Chris and Andrea Mullineux, the Kloof Street wines represent balance, freshness and superb value. They act as the perfect starting point for discovering Swartland’s wines. It is immediately evident in the glass that as much care goes into these wines as Mullineux’s Single Terroir Syrahs and Chenin Blancs.
The spicy perfumed nose has undertones of dark fruits. Each variety in the blend adds balance to the wine. Tinta Barocca brings tannin, Cinsault brings perfume, Carignan brings freshness, Grenache brings fruit character, and the Syrah ties it all together.
A blend of eight vineyard parcels, this wine is made from sustainably farmed fruit sourced from different parts of the Swartland. The vines are aged between 12 – 40 years. Two parcels of Syrah and one of Cinsault come from the stony shale and schist-based soils of Kasteelberg, which retain heat well and aid in the ripening of bold fruit. One parcel of dry-land, bush vine Syrah, one of Carignan, one of Grenache and a single parcel of gnarly, old, dry-farmed Tinta Barocca bush vines are all grown on the decomposed granite soil of the Paardeberg. This soil promotes the production of complex wines with lifted acidity. The final parcel is Mourvèdre grown on the rolling, iron-rich soils west of Malmesbury.

2018 Tempranillo de Laderas, Badiola
£1695Add to BasketBadiola is the creation of 2 Masters of Wine, Andreas Kubach and Sam Harrop along with txakoli producer Gorka Izagirre. Andreas and Sam along with Winemaker Tao Plantón craft modern Rioja wines with an emphasis on-site rather than how long it has aged in an oak barrel. The winemaking philosophy is to obtain very pure, fresh and well-textured wines that reflect their origin.
The 2018 Tempranillo de Laderas has pure and precise aromas of cherries and red berries are layered with herbal notes of thyme through to a textured palate. This wine shows an excellent balance between fresh natural acidity, fruit concentration and firm, but fine-grained tannins.
‘Laderas’ means hillside and this wine takes its name from the hillside vineyards on which the grapes are grown. The fruit is carefully selected from over 300 parcels that are situated on the slopes of the Sierra Cantabria, in Rioja Alavesa. The average plot size is just 0.3 hectares and the average age of the vineyard is approximately 50 years, but some of the vines are significantly older, producing low yields of concentrated juice. The Gobelet trained vines are planted in limestone soils, resulting in elegant wines that are fresh, precise and age-worthy due to the balancing acidity.

2019 Côtes du Rhône Villages Plan de Dieu Vielles Vignes, Domaine Saint Damien
£1695Add to BasketAn opulent and spicy full-flavoured wine, with layered flavours of prunes and garrigue from this award-winning producer.
The vineyards are located in the relatively new appellation of Plan de Dieu, which translates as Plan of God in English. Despite the first historical mentions of the “Plan Dei”, which date back to a parchment from 1326, the lieu-dit of Plan de Dieu was only designated a red wine producing appellation in 2005. The climate here is classic Mediterranean with the additional influence of the Mistral winds. The terroir sits on an alluvial plateau with calcareous gravel, which retains water, helping to preserve the vines during the hot and often arid summer months.

2019 Chianti Classico ‘San Jacopo’, Castello Vicchiomaggio
£1695Add to BasketThe wines of Castello Vicchiomaggio truly show off the Sangiovese grape at its best. Vicchiomaggio is consistently classified amongst Italy’s top estates and winemaker John Matta has been named IWSC Italian Winemaker of the Year four times in the last 14 years.
The 2019 Chianti Classico ‘San Jacopo’ is named after an antique farmhouse located on the wine estate. It is a lovely expression of Chianti, with red cherry and cranberry fruits, the palate has good substance and a lingering, rounded finish.
The vineyards are located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region and sit at an altitude of 255 to 265 metres above sea level. The Chianti Classico area is characterised by a Mediterranean climate and the soil, which is called “Galestro”, is rich in clay and large stones. The soils in this vineyard are made up of a high proportion of heavy clay- approximately 30%- which is renowned for its cooling properties and water retention for the vine, as well as for producing bold wines from the Sangiovese grape. Planted at a density of 5,600 vines per hectare, the vines are pruned according to the Single Guyot method which ensures low yields of approximately 52 hectolitres per hectare. Particular attention is paid to the direction in which the vines are planted; they are all south-facing, ensuring maximum exposure to the sun throughout the day.

2017 ‘Maggio’ Old Vines Petite Sirah, Oak Ridge Winery
£1695Add to BasketThis richly coloured wine offers opulent notes of dark berried fruit and blueberry, with nuances of black pepper, fine cocoa and vanilla. Showing lovely balance, the ripe fruit is enveloped in elegant tannins through to a lingering finish.
The winemaking philosophy at Oak Ridge honours the importance of finding balance between the land and the makers, beginning first with growing quality grapes. Maggio has become part of the Lodi Rules initiative, which guides sustainable farming practices. Created by farmers it was initially launched as a grassroots educational integrated pest management programme in 1992. Recognising the importance of the ecosystem and biodiversity in the vineyard, it includes pest management initiatives, such as introducing natural predators, which minimises the risks to birds, bees, water and people. Water is carefully managed to ensure efficiency and waste is limited. The soils are treated with organic matter and are cultivated to maximise water penetration to sustain the vine’s roots. As a result the grapes are concentrated with flavour, which translates into fruit-forward, expressive wines.

£1695Add to BasketCharacterised by freshness, finesse and delicacy, this Grenache offers lovely purity of fruit with cherry notes layered with subtle floral aromas and spicy notes. Soft, supple tannins lend structure to this elegant wine.
The sustainably cultivated grapes come from the Château’s vineyard, situated 15 kilometres south of Nîmes, near the village of Manduel in the heart of the AOP of the Costières de Nîmes. However, winemaker Frank-Lin Dalle has chosen to designate this wine as Vin de France to distinguish the distinctive style of this wine, which has been made without sulphites. Sourced from the best plots of Grenache on the estate, where the main character is the soil, which is formed of ‘galets’, an accumulation of rounded pebbles that have been deposited by the overflowing Rhône River thousands of years ago.
