A smooth, ripe wine bursting with white peach flavours and superb lemon freshness. Concentrated apricot flavours on the palate are generously kissed by spicy wood and the palate finishes with a long rich, toasty note. A classy and elegant white Bordeaux.
The vineyards are cultivated according to “la lutte raisonnée”, using sustainable agriculture methods, reducing the use of chemicals in order to respect the land and its environment. The soils in the vineyard have a high clay and silt content.
This knockout wild Ferment Sauvignon Blanc from Harry Hartman Wines is made from fruit picked in the premium regions of Elgin and Bot River. Elgin fruit has a higher level of acidity adding to the more citrus notes and making the wine more linear. Botrivier fruit is more rounded, with bigger tropical notes.
In the glass, the wine paints a picture of a basket filled with freshly picked kiwi and yellow plums. The fruit is clean and welcoming, backed with a perpetual herbaceous note that blows off as the wine evolves in your glass, leaving hints of spice and a creamy note of old-fashioned lemon candy. The palate is a continuation of the nose with that almond skin character giving way to a briny texture and taut acidity leaping over your tongue.

This Sauvignon Blanc from Leyda Valley has enticing aromas of citrus fruit, lime and mandarin that are underpinned by spicy notes of blackcurrant leaf, green chilli pepper and chalk. This is a vibrant and juicy Sauvignon Blanc with refreshing, zesty acidity and delicate mineral notes.
The grapes were sourced from small plots within selected vineyards in the Leyda Valley, 14 kilometres from the Pacific Ocean, where the vines are cooled by the South Pacific breezes and the morning coastal summer fog. Located to the west of the coastal mountain range, the Leyda Valley’s finely textured soils are developed from granite rock on the coastal batholith formed 200 million years ago during the Jurassic period.

The Terroir Hunter (TH) range of wines from Undurraga, represent the diversity and quality to be found in Chile’s vineyard sites. Unique individual terroirs are given the limelight such as the vineyard that produces this Chardonnay, a high-quality vineyard in the far North of Chile in the Quebrada Seca of the Limarí Valley. This relatively new region for the production of high-quality wines has the perfect climate for slow ripening and preserving the fresh aromas of the grapes.
Gorgeous fresh aromas of camomile flowers, lemon, melon and pear, are complemented by touches of toasted hazelnut and coastal mineral notes. Smooth and creamy on the palate, delicate notes of oak spice are exquisitely balanced by fresh acidity through to an elegant finish.
Established in 1970 by Tony Albert, John Beeston and wine critic James Halliday, Brokenwod has evolved from a weekend venture for hobby winemakers into one of the Hunter’s leading estates renowned for producing some of Australia’s most long-lived Semillons.
Brilliant water-like colour with a faint greenish tinge to the edges. The nose displays punchy aromas of lime zest, lemon and Granny Smith apple followed by some flinty mineral notes. Crunchy lime and green apple fruits are underpinned by crisp, lemony acidity with wet steel and mineral characters flowing onto the zesty aftertaste.
The wine displays complex aromas of green coffee bean, vanilla pod and maple syrup are complemented by notes of wildflowers, crushed herbs and just a hint of gunflint. The palate is rich and unctuous with layers of ripe papaya, nectarine, cocoa powder and toasted hazelnut with hints of red berry and cassis.
The grapes come from three rows of vines in one of Saint Clair’s best vineyards in the lower Wairau sub-region of Marlborough. The vineyard soils are nutrient-rich and free draining. The maritime climate and close proximity to the sea create a high diurnal temperature difference resulting in a long ripening period, concentrating the fruit flavours while retaining refreshing acidity. The fruit is left to hang a week longer than the fruit for Saint Clair’s traditional Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes are hand-harvested, with only the highest quality bunches being selected.

This wine is made from the wonderful Greco grape that is grown on the famous Tufo (volcanic) soils that are believed to lend the wine its perfume and mineral complexity. This 2020 vintage has a rich and powerfully aromatic nose reminiscent of apricot, peach and tropical melon that leads to a creamy palate, harmoniously balanced with a refreshing minerality.

This wine is a pale straw colour in the glass. Opens with lifted notes of rose water florals and pear. A generous palate packed with lemon butter and pear fruit. The palate has depth, with some chalky texture anchoring the generous and rich fruit and a drawn-out refreshing citrus finish. The wine has been praised for its similarity to its Greek counterpart and has great natural acidity with flavours of pear, apricot and apple.
“I first tasted Assyrtiko in August 2006 while on holiday with my wife Sue on the Greek island of Santorini, the birthplace of the Assyrtiko grape variety. The crisp, acidic qualities reminded me of our Clare Valley Rieslings and yet it was a flavour I had not experienced before. Intrigued with this newfound variety, I began the process of importing cuttings into Australia through quarantine. In August 2012 we planted Australia’s first Assyrtiko at our Lodge Hill Vineyard, a special and unique site treasured by my family and suited to this variety. Our ten-year Assyrtiko journey has been fascinating and has enabled us to produce a wine which, I believe, is a true expression of the variety. This 2017 barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc is a full-bodied, elegant and beautifully balanced wine. Floral notes of passionflower, fynbos (natural shrubland), combine with guava, gooseberry and pear on the palate along with an underlying minerality, imparting its signature style. A true expression of this unique terroir and its equally unique winemaker.
We love barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc at Wine Republic and this beauty is made in an “oxidative” style using old 500-litre barrels for 70% of the fermentation and maturation bringing forward richness, intense fruit and complexity. 30% of the wine is fermented and aged in 1500-litre concrete egg tanks to enhance the rich palate texture and minerality. In both the barrels and the eggs, extended less contact contribute further to the rounder mouthfeel and creaminess of this elegantly textured wine.
I secretly think we all miss those big luscious, oaky Californian Chardonnays, the ones before they all got expensive and over-the-top.
The Wonderwall 2020 vintage makes a strong first impression with a nose full of pears and clementines. The palate is full of summery notes of ripe stone fruit, citrus and pie crust. As a vine nursery fieldman, Andrew Jones has spent many hours exploring vineyards, planning, planting, and chatting with farmers all over the Central Coast. He began spotting more and more interesting and overlooked vineyards – often rocky, wilder sites located closer to the Pacific, farmed mindfully by clients who have become friends over many years. This Chardonnay is sourced from Edna Valley.
An enchanting wine delivering distinctive aromas of peach and apricot. Crisp, with pure varietal character echoed on the palate, this refreshing wine has an excellent structure and a lively finish. Lovely Riesling expression.
The grapes come from the Spitz vineyard in Western Wachau. The vines are grown on steep hillside terraces which make up several vineyards in the Spitzer Graben. The vines are planted with a south western orientation. Cooling breezes help to keep the climate temperate. The soils are very sandy and have high heat retention properties. The soil’s composition is the result of weathering of the local rocks and it is dominated by pegmatite and calc-silicate gneisses, which have low water retention and help to impart structure to the resulting wine.
Aromatically the 2022 vintage stands out for its marked varietal character and intensity, with white fruit notes -golden delicious apple and ripe pear- as well as stone fruit, particularly apricot, and hints of lemon peel. Fresh and vibrant on the palate, with excellent structure, intense and well-balanced. It retains a saline aftertaste and a long, lingering finish.
Perfect to enjoy with any appetizer. Ideal with seafood or salads, fish rice dishes, poultry and fresh cheese, also the perfect choice for sushi and sashimi.
Isabel Estate is located just outside of Renwick village in the Wairau Valley at the heart of Marlborough’s wine region. The site benefits from all the climate characteristics that make the Marlborough renowned including extended sunshine hours combined with a long, cool growing season.
The Chardonnay grapes for this wine come from a vineyard planted in1980, which is renowned for producing intensely concentrated grapes that result in a wine of elegance, complexity, depth and class.
In the glass this 2019 Chardonnay delivers an intensely concentrated wine of elegance, complexity, depth and class. Characters of white nectarine complemented by intriguing gun smoke and flint, vanilla bean and French oak toastiness will delight even the fussiest of Chardonnay devotees.
This Sauvignon Blanc is distinctively Marlborough with green notes of gooseberry, nettle and blackcurrant bud. The fresh, vibrant palate layers blackcurrant with tropical passion fruit, white peach and a mineral, slightly salty richness which leads to a long, lingering finish.
The fruit was sourced from the fertile, deep, free-draining silt-loam soils of the lower Wairau Valley. The rows are planted north-east to south-west at a 43-degree angle rather than the typical north to south. This leads to slightly greener characters in grapes on the south facing side and more tropical characters in grapes on the north-facing side. The resulting wine is multi-dimensional and complex. The site is cooler than some other areas of the valley and hence slower to ripen. The distinguishing flavour is of crushed herbs – which is one often associated with the coastal Awatere region. Careful monitoring during ripening and harvesting in the cool of the evening ensures fruit of maximum flavour maturity and physiological ripeness.
