2020 ‘Summer’ Wild Ferment Sauvignon Blanc, Harry Hartman

    £2250

This knockout wild Ferment Sauvignon Blanc from Harry Hartman Wines is made from fruit picked in the premium regions of Elgin and Bot River.  Elgin fruit has a higher level of acidity adding to the more citrus notes and making the wine more linear. Botrivier fruit is more rounded, with bigger tropical notes.

In the glass, the wine paints a picture of a basket filled with freshly picked kiwi and yellow plums. The fruit is clean and welcoming, backed with a perpetual herbaceous note that blows off as the wine evolves in your glass, leaving hints of spice and a creamy note of old-fashioned lemon candy. The palate is a continuation of the nose with that almond skin character giving way to a briny texture and taut acidity leaping over your tongue.

    2022 Sauvignon Blanc ‘TH’, Undurraga

    £2250

Head winemaker Rafael Urrejola has spent a great deal of time understanding the diversity of Chile’s vineyard sites; the result is the emblematic TH – ‘Terroir Hunter’ range.

This Sauvignon Blanc from Leyda Valley has enticing aromas of citrus fruit, lime and mandarin that are underpinned by spicy notes of blackcurrant leaf, green chilli pepper and chalk. This is a vibrant and juicy Sauvignon Blanc with refreshing, zesty acidity and delicate mineral notes.

The grapes were sourced from small plots within selected vineyards in the Leyda Valley, 14 kilometres from the Pacific Ocean, where the vines are cooled by the South Pacific breezes and the morning coastal summer fog. Located to the west of the coastal mountain range, the Leyda Valley’s finely textured soils are developed from granite rock on the coastal batholith formed 200 million years ago during the Jurassic period.

2020 Ribolla Gialla, Castello di Buttrio

    £2250

Alessandra Felluga produces stunning, modern and authentic wines from old vines on her beautiful estate.

Ribolla Gialla is an ancient white variety from northern Italy that can be traced back to the 13th century and to the province of the Colli Orientali del Friuli.

In the glass, this Ribolla Gialla is vibrant and characteristically fresh, offering marked minerality with complementing citrussy notes through to a stylish finish.

The Castello di Buttrio vineyard is situated on the hillside slopes at 142 metres above sea level, which ensures excellent air circulation to keep the vines healthy. The Ribolla Gialla vines range from 10 to 60 years in age and are planted in soils that are made up of layers of marl and sandstone of Eocene origin, known locally as ‘ponca’ in Friulian, which contains marine fossils originating from the Adriatic Sea. This soil produces textured and concentrated wines which are balanced by cutting acidity, thanks to the soil’s high pH and cool temperature.

    2021 Brink Sauvignon Semillon, Spoke

    £2250

The 2021 Brink Sauvignon Semillon from Spoke Wines is a captivating expression of New Zealand’s Marlborough region, offering both precision and personality. Spoke is a collaborative project led by acclaimed winemaker Ben Glover, focusing on site-driven wines that highlight Marlborough’s diverse sub-regions through a thoughtful, minimalist lens.

The Brink vineyard, planted in 1992, sits atop the Renwick terrace in the heart of the mid-Wairau Valley. Organically farmed since its inception, this site features a complex mix of silt, loam, and clay soils, which impart texture and depth to the fruit. A blend of 75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Semillon, this wine is as much about structure and mouthfeel as it is about aromatics.

In the glass, the wine opens with lifted aromas of lemongrass, white peach, citrus peel, and subtle lanolin, layered with a delicate note of struck match that hints at its refined winemaking. On the palate, it delivers immediate weight and presence, full-bodied, yet taut and energetic, with vibrant acidity anchoring generous stone fruit and citrus flavours. The interplay between Sauvignon’s linear freshness and Semillon’s waxy richness results in a wine that is both texturally fascinating and structurally refined.

  • <a href="https://wine-republic.co.uk/product/2018-the-lark-chenin-blanc-olifantsberg/">2023 ‘The Lark’ Chenin Blanc, Olifantsberg</a> White Wine

2023 ‘The Lark’ Chenin Blanc, Olifantsberg

    £2295

The ‘Lark’ from Olifantsberg is a top tier, Chenin Blanc and one for those obsessive seekers of the Chenin grape!  It has a clean-cut freshness and an exceptional balance of fresh stone fruit and bright citrus notes on a fleshy textured palate. Elegant and refined with a long expressive finish.

The grapes for this exceptional wine come from a 0.6-hectare vineyard located on the fertile slopes of the Olifantsberg Mountain Range where they endure large diurnal temperature differences and strong winds, at altitudes from 250 to 450 metres above sea level. During the winter the mountain peaks are snow-covered, keeping the vines dormant for longer. Strong, constant winds characterise this block; they have a cooling effect and encourage a slow, gradual ripening of the grapes, helping to maintain healthy vines and contribute freshness and elegance to the wines. The soil in the vineyard is made up of sandstone with clay-shale and quartz. The vineyard is farmed in a sustainable manner, with only ‘green’ products used to prevent disease, thus helping to maintain the biodiversity within the vineyards and soils.

The lark is found in many biomes in South Africa, each with distinct call and features depending on the biome. This wine is named after the Red Capped Lark which is found on the Olifantsberg farm. The lark resonates with this block of Chenin Blanc, as it too has its own expression and story to tell.

2019 Nivarius ‘Edicion Limitada’, Palacios Vinos de Finca

    £2295

Bodegas Nivarius specialises in the production of white wines from cool-climate vineyards in Rioja.  This wine represents the perfect blend of the terroir and the cool-climate region, with its warm days and cool nights prolonging the ripening period and encouraging aromatic richness. The Viura grapes come from the sandy soils of the Najerilla, and the limestone soils of the Sonsierra, and are blended with Maturana Blanca from the Iregua Valley, grown in sandy soils. Maturana Blanca is an ancient native variety with small clusters and small, elliptical grapes which produces vibrant, tangy wines characterised by high, natural acidity.

In the glass it has an aromatic and complex bouquet of baked apple, floral and balsamic notes, layered with nutty tones and a hint of minerality. The palate is fresh, rounded and balanced, with lovely texture and finishes with stone fruits and a touch of almond.

Nivarius, meaning ‘snow-drift’, takes its name from the common sight of the snowy blanket which covers the vineyards in winter.

  • <a href="https://wine-republic.co.uk/product/2021-sauvignon-blanc-pegasus-bay/">2021 Sauvignon Blanc, Pegasus Bay</a> White Wine

    2021 Sauvignon Blanc, Pegasus Bay

    £2295

The 2021 Sauvignon Blanc from Pegasus Bay is a benchmark expression of New Zealand’s North Canterbury region, vibrant, layered, and undeniably sophisticated. Pegasus Bay was established in 1986 by Ivan and Christine Donaldson, pioneers of viticulture in the Waipara Valley, with Ivan having planted one of the region’s first vineyards a decade earlier. Today, this family-run estate is guided by the second generation, with all four Donaldson sons involved in various aspects of the business. Their commitment to quality and site expression has earned Pegasus Bay a reputation as one of New Zealand’s most respected producers.

In the glass, the 2021 Sauvignon Blanc is immediately captivating. The bouquet is vibrant and expressive, offering a heady medley of tropical and citrus aromas: passionfruit, pineapple, and grapefruit are layered with lemon peel, green apple, and a subtle flinty note. On the palate, it delivers both energy and depth, juicy yet precise, with bright acidity and finely balanced phenolics that add structure and persistence. The mouthfeel is textural and dynamic, evolving into a long, mineral-driven finish that leaves a lasting impression.

The vineyard lies on the free-draining, north-facing Glasnevin Gravels of Waipara Valley, sheltered by the Teviotdale Range and blessed with warm days and cool nights. This unique mesoclimate, combined with low-fertility soils, naturally limits yields and promotes the development of intensely flavoured, well-structured fruit. The vines, many over 35 years old and planted on their own roots, deliver a Sauvignon Blanc that is both aromatic and texturally complex.

  • <a href="https://wine-republic.co.uk/product/2020-sauvignon-blanc-barrique-saint-clair/">2020 Sauvignon Blanc ‘Barrique’, Saint Clair</a> Wine Republic Heros White Wine

2020 Sauvignon Blanc ‘Barrique’, Saint Clair

    £2300

The wine displays complex aromas of green coffee bean, vanilla pod and maple syrup are complemented by notes of wildflowers, crushed herbs and just a hint of gunflint. The palate is rich and unctuous with layers of ripe papaya, nectarine, cocoa powder and toasted hazelnut with hints of red berry and cassis.

The grapes come from three rows of vines in one of Saint Clair’s best vineyards in the lower Wairau sub-region of Marlborough. The vineyard soils are nutrient-rich and free draining. The maritime climate and close proximity to the sea create a high diurnal temperature difference resulting in a long ripening period, concentrating the fruit flavours while retaining refreshing acidity. The fruit is left to hang a week longer than the fruit for Saint Clair’s traditional Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes are hand-harvested, with only the highest quality bunches being selected.
