2018 Chardonnay Costa & Pampa, Trapiche

In the glass, it is a golden colour with slight greenish tones, the nose has notes of green apples, pear and hints of toast and butter. Awarded 97+ points by Oz Clarke who described the 2018 Chardonnay: ‘Up there with the best Chardonnays, I have tasted from Argentina. £1650Add to BasketThe vision was to produce a great white Rhône style blend from the Breedekloof region. This beautifully layered wine with opulent fruit flavours of white peach, ripe apricot and delicate citrus notes complemented by hints of floral and dried green herbs. The palate is rich, textured and elegant.
The vineyard is located on the fertile slopes of the Olifantsberg Mountain Range at altitudes from 250 metres to 450 metres above sea level. It endures harsh conditions, with wide diurnal temperature swings and strong winds. During the winter the mountain peaks are snow-covered, keeping the vines dormant for longer. Cold winters, coupled with the summer winds, ensures the slow ripening of the grapes and helps to maintain healthy vines, contributing freshness and elegance to the wines. The vineyards are farmed using sustainable practices, helping to maintain the biodiversity within the vineyard and soils. The Roussanne and Grenache Blanc are young plantings on the estate and are grown on shale soils, the Chenin Blanc is grown on sandstone/shale soils, which lends freshness to the wine. The training is ‘sur eschalas’ in order to maximise the number of vines per hectare and to protect them from strong winds.

2019 Minervois ‘La Régence’, Domaine La Rouviole

This 2019 Minervois ‘La Régence is a full-flavoured and perfumed wine showing notes of ripe cassis with elegant cedar and chocolate notes and a fine, velvety texture.
The vineyard is located in the heart of the ‘Petit Causse’ terroir, in the Cru La Livinière production area, which lies between Carcassonne, Béziers and Narbonne. The 30-year old vines are grown on the hillside plots, on clay-limestone soil. The clay component retains moisture and nourishes the vines through the warm, summers, while the limestone imparts elegance to the resulting wines. The vineyard is orientated towards a southern exposure, which captures exceptional sunshine, over 300 days per year, which enables the grapes to reach excellent maturity and concentration. The Mediterranean is less than 25 miles away, which influences the vines with cooling oceanic breezes. The vineyard is surrounded by scrubland, with thyme, lavender, rosemary and almond, fig, cherry and olive trees all contributing to the aromatic complexity of the wines. The vineyard is managed using strict organic processes.

2020 ‘Bull Ant’ Shiraz, Lake Breeze

This 2020 vintage is a ripe, full-bodied wine that has benefited from 15 months of oak maturation. It shows aromas reminiscent of plums and chocolate with a touch of earthy complexity. A wine that could partner a cheese plate equally as well as a rare fillet steak. It is drinking well now but will age gracefully for the remainder of this decade.
