Conceito Vinhos is a standout estate in Portugal’s Douro Valley, based in the remote, high-altitude subregion of the Douro Superior. Founded by Carla Ferreira and today guided by acclaimed winemaker Rita Marques, Conceito blends deep regional heritage with a contemporary, terroir-focused approach. The estate’s vineyards, many of them century-old and organically farmed, sit on granite and schist soils at elevations that deliver naturally fresh, vibrant fruit.
The 20-Year-Old Tawny Port is a superb example of the estate’s refined approach to tradition. Crafted from a blend of field-grown, old-vine varieties, this Tawny is aged in small oak barrels over two decades in the Conceito cellars, developing the rich complexity and silken texture that defines great aged Port.
In the glass, it reveals a brilliant amber-gold hue, with a nose that is both intense and graceful: aromas of dried fig, toasted almond, orange peel, and caramelised sugar intertwine with layers of spice, cedar, and vanilla bean. The palate is velvety and concentrated, with beautifully integrated sweetness and notes of toffee, roasted nuts, and golden raisin, lifted by a subtle fresh acidity that brings clarity and balance. The finish is long, warming, and resonant, leaving a lasting impression of elegance and depth.
