Crafted solely from hand-harvested Chardonnay grapes, Domaine Altugnac Chardonnay undergoes fermentation and aging in stainless steel tanks, complete with malolactic fermentation, ensuring the preservation of its freshness and varietal essence. Despite hailing from a warm region, winemakers Jean-Luc and Christian masterfully maintain acidity, tension, and vibrancy in this white wine. This particular vintage bears a striking resemblance to Chablis, boasting a pale straw hue and aromas reminiscent of lemon confit, white flowers, green apple, white peach, and yuzu. On the palate, it is bright and invigorating, enveloped by a mineral core that culminates in a lifted finish.

2023 Appassimento Gold Release, Ca Vittoria
£1495Add to BasketThe Rosso IGT Puglia Vino Appassimento Gold Release from Ca’Vittoria is a 60% Negroamaro, 25% Merlot, 15% Primitivo blend of grapes grown and harvested in the Salento area of Puglia, with picking occurring as late as October. This gives a high level of sugar and high alcohol, required for the Appassimento method. Ripe grapes mature on the vine for about 15 days, during which period 50% of their weight and moisture is lost. After a rigorous hand harvest, the grapes are pressed and the fermentation starts; the skins are left in the must for a long period to extract flavours and the characteristic ruby red colour. The wine is then left in oak for around 3-4 months. The resulting wine is concentrated and moreish, with characteristic notes of plums and raisins.

2022 Alvarinho Vinho Verde, Leme
£1495Add to BasketA beautifully aromatic and deliciously fresh Vinho Verde, with vibrant citrus notes and delicate orange blossom. The fruit is underpinned by lively acidity and a mineral edge that leads to a long, elegant finish. A blend of Loureriro 70%, Alvarinho 30%.
The Loureiro grapes come from the Cávado subregion, in the heart of the Vinho Verde DOC, where the variety thrives in a mesoclimate of mild temperatures and high rainfall. The name Loureiro means ‘laurel’ and refers to the distinctive aromas of the berries. The Alvarinho grapes come from the River Minho Valley, the birthplace of the variety, which is located in the Monção and Melgaço subregions. These subregions are surrounded by high mountains, which form a bell-jar shape, protecting the valley from the ocean winds and resulting in a hotter and dryer mesoclimate than other Vinho Verde subregions.

2024 Mason Road GSM, Brookdale Estate
Original price was: £1795.£1495Current price is: £1495. 17% savingAdd to BasketThis blend of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvèdre is medium-bodied with a layered density of fruit. Liquorice root, fennel seed and ground spice precede blackberries and bramble leaf on the rich, inviting nose. Red and black berries unroll to a juicy pomegranate finish, dusted with a hint of cacao.
The grapes for this wine were carefully selected from pockets of the vineyard specifically for their fruit flavours and mouthfeel. The vineyard is planted at the foot of the Du Toitskloof Pass in granite-rich soils with clay and quartz. The clay element offers high water retention properties and releases much-needed water during the warm summer months. The lowest part of the estate is at 220 metres above sea level, climbing to 330m at the highest part. At this altitude, the vines are exposed to strong winds that naturally reduce yields and offer a much-needed cooling influence in Paarl’s warm, dry climate.

2022 ‘Elysium’ Black Muscat, Quady – 375ml
£1500Add to BasketElysium is a brilliant crimson-purple colour with aromas of ripe berries, rose petals, strawberries and lychees. The vibrant acidity balances beautifully with the sweetness of this wine, making it very refreshing. This wine is amazing with Chocolate desserts and cheese. This really is one of those wow wines and always elicits the same response – wow!
This wine also has a great birth story – In 1983 a nearby grower brought Andrew Quady some Black Muscat grapes that were previously destined for sacramental wine at a local church. When the church ceased operations, the grower was left with truckloads of perfectly ripe grapes. Upon hearing that newcomer Quady had some success with Orange Muscat, he knocked on Quady’s door and the rest as they say, is history.

2017 The Custodian Grenache, d’Arenberg
£1550Add to BasketA beautiful crimson-purple, edging toward a purple hue. On the nose, we find tomato leaves, violets and red fruits. Velvety tannins envelop the wine. Light easy-drinking in its youth. With time, this wine will become a showstopper.
The Name: During the vine pull scheme in the 1980s, d’Arry Osborn refused to remove his old grenache vineyards. Today d’Arenberg is the keeper of nearly one-third of McLaren Vale’s old bush vine grenache, earning the title of ‘Custodian’ of the variety.
