    2022 Inmacula, Tandem

    £1750

Tandem is the inspired collaboration between José Maria Fraile and Alicia Eyaralar, two of Navarra’s most respected winemaking figures. Situated in the pristine Yerri Valley, Tandem is guided by a philosophy of sustainable viticulture and minimal intervention, producing wines that reflect both the purity of the land and the integrity of the fruit.

Inmacùla, meaning “without blemish” in Latin, perfectly embodies the estate’s commitment to purity and finesse. A radiant blend of Viognier (90%) and Viura (10%), the 2022 vintage is vibrant, expressive, and beautifully poised.

The wine opens with perfumed aromas of jasmine, white peach, and apricot, layered with subtle floral tones and an elegant thread of minerality. The palate is bright and textured, showing generous fruit depth and a refined creaminess balanced by a precise, refreshing acidity. Delicate notes of citrus blossom and crushed stone add nuance to a lingering, mineral-driven finish.

  • <a href="https://wine-republic.co.uk/product/2018-quinta-de-quercus/">2018 Quinta de Quercus</a> Red Wine

    2018 Quinta de Quercus

    £1775

Quinta de Quercus winemaker Sam Harrop produces single vineyard and parcel wines from 44 hectares of high-altitude, sustainably grown vineyards in central Castile.  This 2017 Quinta de Quercus is a single-vineyard wine made from the hillside plantings of 30-year-old Tempranillo.

In the glass, it has intense aromas of ripe blackberries that are enhanced by subtle herbal notes and refined layers of oak spice and clove. Full-bodied and concentrated, yet juicy and vibrant, this wine delivers a beautifully textured palate of velvety, finely-knit tannins and a precise, long finish.   This wine is age-worthy and will drink very well into the late 2020s.

The grapes are grown in a single parcel called Viña Ocaña, which is the oldest vineyard plot on the Quinta de Quercus estate. Situated at 800 metres above sea level, the altitude imparts a distinct freshness to the wine. The warm days are tempered by cool nights and this temperature difference helps to retain the acidity in the grapes balancing the concentrated flavours.

In the Valle de Maule, the ancient soils are made up of granitic sandy loam, which is formed from granite from the Coastal Mountains. The soils are full of quartz and are mineral-rich, which enables the vines to express their full fruit potential. In the Valle de Colchagua, the alluvial soil offers excellent drainage properties, oxygenation and deep development of the vine’s roots, which creates exceptional conditions for the production of high-quality fruit.

Each vessel resulted in a different expression of Chenin Blanc, imparting a layered dimension to the wine. The wine was aged for nine months on the lees in French oak, which contributed to the complexity and texture of the wine.

    £1795

  • <a href="https://wine-republic.co.uk/product/2019-carignan-olifantsberg/">2019 Carignan, Olifantsberg</a>Red Wine

    2019 Carignan, Olifantsberg

    £1795

A complex expression of Carignan with notes of cured meat, spice, bay leaves and aniseed leading to dried cranberry and pomegranate flavours. Fresh on entry, with vibrant tannins and an elegant finish.

The vineyard is located on the slopes of the Olifantsberg Mountain Range where it endures wide diurnal temperature differences and strong winds. The grapes for this wine are from 100% bush vines grown on soils with a high percentage of shale and quartz. This is the rockiest vineyard on the farm and is planted at 350 metres above sea level. The vines are densely planted and endure a very dry and tough micro climate due to the high amount of rocks in the soil. The combination of rocky soils and high density planting, results in competition between the vines and in turn deeper root systems. The deep root systems enable the vine to develop a good buffer during drought conditions. The rocky soils also add more stress, so the vines deliver very small berries with a concentrated fruit, good body and fresh acidity.
