£7995Add to BasketThis beguiling Magnum of Pinot Noir from the excellent 2019 vintage has outstanding depth of colour for Pinot Noir displaying an opaque dark red-black core with a dark red-purple hue. The powerfully scented nose is dominated by ripe black cherry and dark plum aromas laced with anise over toasty cedar, light earth and spice. The palate is rich and concentrated that’s filled with dark and black cherry flavours, dark plums and anise underpinned by scorched earth and spicy cedar. Sturdy but fine-grained tannins provide some underlying muscle to the fruit. Excellent power with a long finish of dark and black fruits, anise, scorched earth and spicy cedar. Will improve for 6-8 years.

The Bokkeveld Shale brings amplified perfume to the nose and persistence and elegance to the palate.

£7995Add to BasketThis outstanding Chardonnay from Richard Kershaw MW is sourced from a parcel in the western part of Elgin, the CY96 in the wines name is in reference to a clone of the Chardonnay grape that is known for its excellent quality, creating wines that are nervous, aromatic, elegant and crisp with slightly lower alcohol and finely balanced, the fruit profile being subtle with hints of citrus/orange peel and peach blossom and with time, some nutty elements. The Cartref soils, a mixture of decomposed granite, pebbles and quartz, add delicacy and heighten the fruit intensity.

£7995Add to BasketA beautifully textured Chardonnay with bright crunchy fruit notes complemented by hints of honeysuckle, lime blossom and beeswax through to a gingery kick on the finish.
2020 shows excellent concentration and very clean fruit, which makes for age-worthy Chardonnay with high acidity and ripe fruit characteristics.
The grapes come from three different vineyards within the Russian River Valley AVA, but predominantly from Bush Vineyard, near Dutton Ranch where the clones are mainly Old Wente and Hyde. Renowned as being one of California’s coolest and foggiest AVAs, the microclimate creates the perfect conditions for producing highly acclaimed Chardonnay, with warm days and cool nights. The warm climate is tempered by the cool, coastal breezes and the trademark fog that lingers over the vineyards, brings moisture and has a cooling effect on the vines. The result is a long hang-time, during which the vines slowly build aromatic complexity, concentrated flavours, superbly balanced by natural, crisp freshness.

2017 ‘Calcarole’ Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva DOCG, Guerrieri Rizzardi

Sourced from the historic marogne (dry stone-walled terraces) of the Calcarole vineyard, perched up to 230 meters in Negrar di Valpolicella, this prized cru benefits from a uniquely warm microclimate, calcareous soils, and an ideal southwest exposure.
Hand-harvested from naturally low-yielding, mature vines, the grapes are selected at peak ripeness and air-dried for several months in traditional wooden crates. After a slow fermentation, the wine undergoes extended ageing in oak, allowing its complexity and structure to evolve gracefully.
The 2017 vintage is already showing remarkable generosity and approachability. Deep and expressive, it reveals layers of dried cherries, ripe plums, spice, cocoa, and earthy undertones. The palate is rich yet beautifully balanced, combining intensity and concentration with lifted freshness and a long, refined finish. A rarefied Amarone that offers both immediate pleasure and cellaring potential.

2019 Sanford & Benedict Vineyard Pinot Noir, Sanford
£8300Add to BasketThe Sanford & Benedict Vineyard is where it all began. In 1971 this was the first vineyard planted in what became the world-class, cool-climate Sta. Rita Hills appellation.
Bright, ruby red, the 2019 Sanford & Benedict Pinot Noir entices with aromatic spicy red fruits, complemented by notes of wet stone and dried herb. The palate delivers earthy raspberry flavours with lush, silky texture. The bright acidity and supple tannins give the wine great structure and length. To allow the vineyard to shine through, the winemakers take a gentle approach in the cellar, using traditional Burgundian techniques.
The wine was aged in French Oak barrels (35% new) for 14 months where it gained concentration, while allowing the tannins to soften. This wine is drinking well now, but has the balance and structure to age beautifully for the next 12 to 15 years.

2009 The Paringa Chardonnay, Paringa Estate
£8500Add to BasketThe Paringa Chardonnay is the estates top chardonnay wine and a single vineyard wine.
The nose is highly perfumed with a complex array of white peach, pear combining with vanilla, nougat and almonds. The palate is classic cool climate with white fleshy stone fruits, citrus notes and a savoury nutty oak flavour that is so seductive. The rich and textured mouthfeel gives way to a lingering balanced finish.
The name ‘The Paringa’ denotes the single-vineyard origin of this wine. Lindsay McCall planted the first vines on the Paringa Estate vineyard in 1985, with ten acres being under vine by 1990. From this site fruit of distinction is born from a combination of red volcanic (Ferrasol) soil, a north-facing aspect and altitude of 146m on Paringa Road, Red Hill South. In creating this wine viticulture and winemaking practices are approached with the intent of preserving a pure expression of the site from the soil through to bottle.

2016 Amarone della Valpolicella, Roccolo Grassi

Roccolo Grassi’s Amarone della Valpolicella is produced from a four-hectare, southeast facing vineyard in the heart of the DOCG, from vines with an average age of 40 years. The vines are grown at 200 to 250 metres above sea level in volcanic-basaltic soils. The vines are trained on a pergola system, at a density of 3,000 vines per hectare and yield 1.5 to 2.0 kilograms per vine. The grapes are manually harvested at the end of September into trays to preserve the quality of the fruit.

2001 Ermitage Les Dionnieres, Ferraton Pere et Fils

Like the Meal, this wine is aged in barrel for 14 to 18 months, though the proportion of new barrels varies from 20% to 30% each year. A complex nose with aromas of violets, small red berries, spices and liquorice is matched on the palate, which is full-bodied, elegant and with a long endnote.

2021 Napa Valley Chardonnay, Chateau Montelena
£8650Add to BasketThis is an incredible vintage of Chateau Montelena’s flagship Chardonnay.
In the glass it has a bright gold in colour and is incredibly aromatic, the ripeness of the vintage is most pronounced initially; melon, perfume, and orange blossom slowly give way to fresh peach, honeysuckle and apricot. There is very little overt oak influence on the nose, although it comes across subtly in the background as pie crust and toast.
On the palate, it’s the suppleness and silky mouthfeel that strike first, although there’s abundant mango and citrus with Meyer lemon here as well. The minerality is chalky and distinct, a beautiful contrast that layers in with the acid adding both complexity and depth.
The finish is exceptional: There’s slightly more wood on the transition to the finish, surfacing as baking spice and crème brûlée. However, they’re handily overwhelmed by notes of Asian pear, mango and pineapple— absolutely delicious. In time, expect hazelnuts and almonds to appear.

2015 Martelo Reserva Rioja, Torre de Oña, MAGNUM
£8900Add to BasketThe 2015 Finca Martelo Reserva is a juicy wine, thrilling the mouth with plentiful red and black fruit. A wise and careful ageing process in wood is appreciated in its seductive and well-balanced character and fresh sensations. It makes no attempt to hide the power of its modern profile but the character of a traditional wine and other more evolved touches are never far away. A top-quality Reserva wine produced by a winery steeped in expertise creating classic Rioja wines.
Head winemaker Julio Saenz refers to it as “our little Burgundy” because of how closely it represents this unique location. In fact, the wine itself is a field blend, 95% Tempranillo with 5% other varieties including Mazuelo, Garnacha, and even Viura. The chalk soils and 80-year-old vines at Torre de Oña produce a fuller, riper style of Rioja, while the high altitude and Atlantic influence in Rioja Alavesa keeps the wine fresh and elegant. This style is complemented by the use of 20% French oak and shorter maturation, alongside La Rioja Alta’s ultra-traditional methods such as racking by hand.
