Red WineThe Seghesio family-owned winery started in the year 1895 when Edoardo Seghesio, an Italian immigrant and winemaker, planted the first Zinfandel vineyard in the Alexander Valley located in Sonoma County.
In the glass this 21 year old Zinfandel has lost none of its sleek smoothness, bursting with black cherry and raspberry aromas with a core of flavours that includes black cherry, cassis, cocoa, coffee, blackberry, spice and anise. Lush, harmonious, and penetrating.

This 2019 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru En Virondot opens in the glass with a very full, very intense nose, ripe fruit, refined and mineral, with a hint of butter, vanilla and well-integrated wood nuances. Full and quite powerful on the tongue, broad, complex and mineral, perfect balance, long and mouth-filling finish with pure minerality, all well wrapped in elegant wood nuances. AMAZING!
Marc Morey is the only domaine that farms and bottles the 2.1 hectares premier cru ‘En Virondot’. The vineyard is at one of the highest elevations in the Chassagne-Montrachet at 350 meters lying just west of some notable premier cru vineyards; Les Caillerets, Les Fairendes, and Les Champ Gains. Beneath the shallow topsoil, the vineyard sits on a bed of calcareous (chalk) soil that imparts a specific minerality and texture to the wines. Sabine Mollard, owner, and winemaker says this vineyard has the greatest ageing potential of all her premier cru bottlings.
White WineEd Durell planted the first vines in the rock-strewn, windy hills in 1979. Today, Durell Vineyard spans three AVAs: Sonoma Valley, Sonoma Coast and Carneros. The block TOR sources from lies in the famed Sand Hill section of the vineyard, which overlooks the Sonoma Valley. This 2014 Durell Chardonnay ranks among the best they have ever produced. “This has the classic seamless, almost oily palate weight and texture to it that the best Durells have but with a thread of focus that helps to pull the intensity of the palate together. This shows mandarin oranges, stone fruits and an almost cut wet grass note to it.
Dessert Wine, Port & Dessert WineDolce is Napa’s true Sauternes-style dessert wine. Dolce embraces the pursuit of perfection in the art of late harvest winemaking. Created in 1985 by the partners of Far Niente, Dolce stands as a standard-bearer for this type of wine in America. With a classic blend of late harvest Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc inspired by the Sauternes region, Dolce is the only American winery dedicated to producing a single late harvest wine.
After nearly three years in French oak, this luxurious vintage shows lifted and youthful aromas of orange zest, vanilla bean and butterscotch with subtle notes of minerality and oak-derived spices. The entry is juicy, and Dolce’s signature texture is lively and enduring on the palate leading to a mouthwatering finish. Flavours of orange, pear and dried apricot mingle together with rich caramel notes and hints of minerals that make this vintage a delicious expression of the season’s exceptional ripeness.
Dolce’s 20 acres of vineyard are located in Coombsville, east of the city of Napa, and are situated at the base of the Vaca Mountains, which define the eastern border of the valley. The volcanic soil is loose and well-drained, and the west-facing vineyard is protected from the prevailing winds so that the damp, morning fog of autumn (a very important factor in the development of Botrytis cinerea) hangs longer amongst the vines, often until midday. A combination of high humidity followed by drying conditions encourages, but does not guarantee, the growth of Botrytis. As it develops, its coverage is seemingly random with individual berries succumbing to Botrytis at different rates, if at all.
Red WineAnother blockbuster of a wine from Domaine Pierre Naigeon. This is a wine of great complexity, finesse and power that brings notes of black cherry and blackberry to the fore with delicate mineral undertones. Silky, with supple tannins and wonderful freshness.
The 1er Cru vines are grown in a small parcel in the middle of the Gevrey Chambertin appellation, by the hill of the ‘Combe de Lavaux’. It is a sunny plot with a southeastern exposure that receives cooling breezes, which flow from the bottom of the valley. The soil is complex, ranging from limestone from Dijon to decarbonated silt. The vineyard is cultivated organically, without the use of herbicides and insecticides and will be certified from the 2019 vintage.

From a 5 ha plot of vines, Vernay’s Côte-Rôtie is amongst the most exceptional wines from the same appellation. Thanks to a perfectly mastered elegant wine style, Christine Vernay successfully expresses the elegance and depth of syrah; never over maturing or over ageing.

Côte Rôtie is a prestigious red wine appellation at the northern tip of the Rhône Valley wine region, where the vineyards are situated on steep slopes (the Côtes). Due to these steep slopes the 30-year-old vines are maintained manually, without the use of weed killers and all treatments use organic products.
White WineThis wine is a real treat – one of Trimbach’s finest – 30 years old! It is made from botrytised (noble rot) Pinot Gris grapes that are hand-selected from the best vineyards. It is made in only exceptional years and has natural residual sugar (over 30g) which harmonises perfectly with natural acidity.
In the glass, this wine exhibits aromas of dried apricot, burnt caramel and honey with banana and a touch of smoke. Beautiful subdued sweetness with underlying acidity. Very intense and concentrated in the mouth. The palate includes orange peel with waves and waves of intense, tautly precise flavour framed by good acidity. Very impressive finesse and length.

White WineCullen’s Kevin John remains one of Australia’s classiest Chardonnays and is named after a pioneer of the Margaret River wine region. Biodynamic and carbon-neutral practices result in this incredibly perfumed wine which has intriguing aromas of white flower, orange blossom, fig, pear and kaffir lime. It leads to a poised, expansive palate defined by a fine, mineral acidity that drives the characteristic Kevin John flavours of lime, fig, dried pear and honeysuckle. Red WineAndromeda is a Pinot Noir from the famous Devil’s Gulch Vineyard in Marin County and is made by Sean Thackrey who is often called a mystical and an iconic winemaker because of his winemaking techniques and lack of detail about his wines and the success he has had. In fact, unlike 99.9% of wine producers in the world, who broadcast the minutiae of their vineyard practices and technical methodology on press materials and on their websites, Thackrey releases no such information, believing that the wines speak for themselves and that everything else is none of our business. A trip to his website on which he offers no information on his own wines but instead offers texts from the history of winemaking that come from his extensive collection of books and manuscripts. All this is very refreshing and all the more so because of how wonderful his wines are.
The 2008 Andromeda is an interpretation of Pinot noir you won’t come across very often. The unique array of aromas include cut flowers, ponzu and green grass. The flavours are unusual and challenging to describe and rather befitting this quirky, talented winemaker. The wine does not follow the usual flavour profile of Pinot Noir but does offer some tasty black cherry and berry fruit. A leafy, green note runs consistently through the taste profile as well as oak-derived vanilla.
White Wine“I liked the wines that came from the slopes, I found those from the plains very average”. These words of Georges Vernay sum up his contribution to Condrieu. Thanks to Georges, the abandoned, steep slopes here were given new life in the 1960s. In fact, this determined man had the genius intuition to cultivate vines on the “chaillées”, or terraces, aptly known as the “chaillées de l’Enfer” (terraces from hell)!
On the nose, the 2017 reveals exquisite floral notes, like old rose and peony, as well as a fruity side. The palate shows finesse and elegance, with the floral character of the nose accompanied by hints of spice. This is a balanced Condrieu with beautiful length, complexity and pureness. Champagne & Sparkling WineThis bottle with its harmonious curves preserves the charms of a great champagne, gilded as a jewel and sweet as a perfume, which will seduce the finest palates.
A sumptuous and elegant Champagne, with complex aromas of citrus, fresh bread and biscuity characters, which give way to hints of peach, apricot, quince and floral notes. On the palate, ripe hazelnut envelops delicate notes of crystalline mandarin and orange peel, through to a long finish, full of finesse.
The three revered Chardonnay Grand Cru sites of Avize, Chouilly, Le Mesnil sur Oger and the Pinot Noir Grand Cru site of Ambonnay produced the grapes for this cuvée.
White WineThis wine is made from grapes from the famed El Diablo vineyard, which sits on a ridge above Eastside Road in the Russian River Valley AVA. Aromas of flamboyant pineapple, orange blossom and hints of coriander seed, marzipan and lemongrass lead to a palate delivering lovely tension, tropical fruit and finishing with great purity.
2020 shows excellent concentration and very clean fruit, which makes for age-worthy Chardonnay with high acidity and ripe fruit characters.
White WineThe grapes for this Chardonnay come from the Heintz family, who have owned their ranch in the Sonoma Coast AVA for over 100 years. Planted in 1982, Charles Heintz produces fruit for some of the top names in California. The world-class fruit that is produced here is summed up by Robert Parker, whose assessment of the vineyard is “…one of the great grand cru Chardonnay sites in California.”
The 2020 is elegant and expressive, the palate is packed with sublime stone fruits layered with spice, cedar and candied ginger, framed by a racy backbone, with a silky texture and extraordinarily long finish.
