  2021 Riesling Silberlack 1st Growth, Schloss Johannisberg

  The Schloss Johannisberg Riesling Großes Gewächs Silberlack (Silver Seal) is one of the finest dry white Rieslings in Germany.  Grapes for the wine were handpicked and fermentation took place in 1,200-litre old oak barrels from Schloss Johannisberg oak and lasted for six weeks. The wine was then left on its fine yeast lees for seven months, adding complexity and weight to the wine.

  Deep lemon yellow in colour this wine shows complex aromas of mellow apricot and quince, complemented by pear, white floral notes, a hint of smoky minerality and an elegant spiciness in the background. Concentrated on the palate, with mouthwatering acidity and a long, clean finish.

In its wake, it left behind soil teeming with the richness and nutrients ideal for the cultivation of Pinot Noir. This terroir, imbued with history and character, serves as the cradle of Aroha’s distinct and captivating flavors.

  2021 Chardonnay ‘El Diablo Vineyard’, Senses

  This wine is made from grapes from the famed El Diablo vineyard, which sits on a ridge above Eastside Road in the Russian River Valley AVA.   Aromas of flamboyant pineapple, orange blossom and hints of coriander seed, marzipan and lemongrass lead to a palate delivering lovely tension, tropical fruit and finishing with great purity.

  2021 shows excellent concentration and very clean fruit, which makes for age-worthy Chardonnay with high acidity and ripe fruit characters.

  2021 Chardonnay ‘Charles Heintz Vineyard’, Senses

  The grapes for this Chardonnay come from the Heintz family, who have owned their ranch in the Sonoma Coast AVA for over 100 years. Planted in 1982, Charles Heintz produces fruit for some of the top names in California. The world-class fruit that is produced here is summed up by Robert Parker, whose assessment of the vineyard is “…one of the great grand cru Chardonnay sites in California.”

  The 2021 is elegant and expressive, the palate is packed with sublime stone fruits layered with spice, cedar and candied ginger, framed by a racy backbone, with a silky texture and extraordinarily long finish.

  2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District, Chimney Rock

  The Chimney Rock Estate is blessed with a diversity of soil and topography that breeds complexity into the wines. To the east, steep hills and shallow soils bring density and power. On the north end, the proximity to the Palisades brings with it ripeness and purity of fruit. To the south, proximity to the bay brings breezes that add the nuance of cooler climate – adding hints of dried herbs and mint. It is this diversity that has enabled the winemakers to represent the quintessence of Stags Leap District – the tension between grace and power, the balance of finesse and muscle.

  This wine opens in the glass with abundant aromas of blackcurrant and cherry, with hints of mocha, vanilla and floral. On the palate it is rich and savoury with plum and black cherry flavours and hints of dried fig, vanilla, and floral. On the palate this wine is smooth and viscous in the midpalate, full-bodied, and the tannin structure is firm but very polished. Recommend decanting.

  2021 Tomahawk Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District, Chimney Rock

  This wine is made from a single vintage, from a single site and crafted to be enjoyed during a single moment in time. Tomahawk Vineyard is a cooler site located at the southern-most point of the Estate which offers a diverse array of soils. In 2018, Mother Nature gifted Napa Valley with perfect weather for the harvest — warm days and cool nights. This allowed tannins to perfectly ripen in the skins and seeds, while preserving beautiful acidity and lower sugars, which resonated well for the age worthiness and balance of the vintage.

  In the glass the wine is generous and complex with aromas of cherry cola, cassis and chocolate. Some savory notes and hints of citrus zest and mint. This wine is intensely aromatic and develops in the glass as layers are revealed. The palate is full-bodied, powerful yet exhibits grace and finesse. A rich and dense mid-palate evolves into a muscular and graceful finish.
