Paringa’s and arguably Australias top Pinot Noir – made from barrels which were selected as clearly superior at the time of blending and bottling. The wine has rich powerful aromas of spice and dark cherry, combined with charry oak, secondary barrel-ferment mocha/coffee characters that will integrate further to become more Burgundian like with bottle age. On the palate the wine has rich ripe fruit, firm fine-grained tannins helping provide excellent texture and length.

2013 Tillington Single Vineyard, Nyetimber
£9500Add to BasketPale gold with fine bubbles, the nose is full of wild strawberries and raspberries, reminiscent of British summer fruits. On the palate, this delicate fruit is accompanied by complex flavours of toasted almonds, pastry and praline. The wine balances elegance and richness in perfect harmony, with refreshing acidity and a textured, decadent finish.
The Tillington vineyard is located in the middle of the South Downs National Park, on the narrow greensand strip formed during the Cretaceous Period. The geology is of prime importance here since it has determined the characteristics of the shallow soil above – excellent underlying drainage, low natural fertility – and influences the development of the vine roots. The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines grow on a south-facing slope, ranging between a 5% and 10% incline to capture the sunlight. Every operation from pruning to picking is carefully performed so that the grapes reveal the site’s uniqueness. Winemaker Cherie Spriggs describes this plot as “something really magical.”

2009 Packspur Pinot Noir, Mt Difficulty
£9500Add to BasketThe ‘Single Vineyard’ Pinot Noir wines of Mt Difficulty rival the ‘Block’ wines of Felton Road as the most highly-regarded of Central Otago. They join an elite band of superb, terroir-driven releases of Pinot Noir from New Zealand that are demanding a place alongside fine Burgundy wine. The ‘Single Vineyard’ wines are only made when the character of the vineyard site can be expressed faithfully with accompanying exceptional quality. ]
This 2009 Packspur is a very elegant Pinot with a beautiful perfume of velvety, raspberry/ cranberry notes; adding complexity and intrigue are clove and anise spice. Rich, full, red fruit of the forest palate entry leads into a well-textured lush midpalate. Finally, lovely finely structured tannins round out this dense and concentrated wine.
The grapes for the wines that carry the Mt Difficulty label have traditionally been sourced from vineyards situated on the Southside of the Kawarau River at Bannockburn. The Growers Series is a recent addition to the Mt Difficulty portfolio, allowing us to showcase the terroir of different sub-regions. Packspur Vineyard is situated on Heany Road in Lowburn, on the northern side of Cromwell (as opposed to Bannockburn to the South). The vineyard takes its name from the track that was used to pack supplies over the Pisa Range, from the Lowburn Valley to the gold fields of the Cardrona Valley. The vineyard irrigation is a miners’ water right from 1863.

2007 Beaune 1er Cru Champs Pimont, Domaine Jacques Prieurcras
£9500Add to BasketAt full maturity and drinking beautifully. Beguiling, rich and stays in the palate for an age. The grapes for this wine come from a large plot with the evocative name of “Les Champs au pied du Mont” (“The Fields at the Foot of the Mountain”), located on the slope overlooking the outskirts of Beaune. This vineyard, facing due east, produces both red and white wine. The Pinot Noir grapes in the lower part benefit from a very clayey soil that produces deeply-coloured, powerful wines. The high iron content in the soil often accounts for aromas reminiscent of soot or smoke.

2013 Camp Meeting Ridge Chardonnay, Flowers
£9500Add to BasketFlowers are pioneers of the Sonoma Coast region and make extraordinary Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Perched on top of soaring coastal ridges that border the Pacific Ocean, Flowers’ estate vineyards were some of the first planted on the “extreme” Sonoma Coast in 1991. Flowers’ vineyards rise up just two miles from the rugged Pacific Ocean cliffs at elevations of 1,150 to 1,875 feet. The maritime breezes and coastal fog cool the vineyards during the heat of summer allowing fruit to fully mature with fresh, complex flavours and lively acidity resulting in wines with a distinct coastal minerality and bright natural acidity.
The 2013 Camp Meeting Ridge Chardonnay is sourced from the organically and biodynamically farmed Camp Meeting Ridge Estate Vineyard. Planted in 1991 these ‘older vines’ produce Flowers most interesting and exciting Chardonnays. In the glass, it has aromas of chamomile and lemongrass combined with flavours of ripe stone fruits, dried apricot and lemon. On the palate, it has subtle notes of custard and caramel along with the classic sea-salt minerality that is typical of the Camp Meeting Ridge vineyard. The finish is long and salivating with refreshing acidity.

2019 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru En Virondot, Domaine Marc Morey
£9500Add to BasketDomaine Marc Morey is one of our favourite producers and we think winemaker Sabine Mollard, Marc Morey’s granddaughter, is something rather special.
This 2019 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru En Virondot opens in the glass with a very full, very intense nose, ripe fruit, refined and mineral, with a hint of butter, vanilla and well-integrated wood nuances. Full and quite powerful on the tongue, broad, complex and mineral, perfect balance, long and mouth-filling finish with pure minerality, all well wrapped in elegant wood nuances. AMAZING!
Marc Morey is the only domaine that farms and bottles the 2.1 hectares premier cru ‘En Virondot’. The vineyard is at one of the highest elevations in the Chassagne-Montrachet at 350 meters lying just west of some notable premier cru vineyards; Les Caillerets, Les Fairendes, and Les Champ Gains. Beneath the shallow topsoil, the vineyard sits on a bed of calcareous (chalk) soil that imparts a specific minerality and texture to the wines. Sabine Mollard, owner, and winemaker says this vineyard has the greatest ageing potential of all her premier cru bottlings.

2014 Chardonnay ‘Durell Vineyard’, TOR
£9500Add to BasketEd Durell planted the first vines in the rock-strewn, windy hills in 1979. Today, Durell Vineyard spans three AVAs: Sonoma Valley, Sonoma Coast and Carneros. The block TOR sources from lies in the famed Sand Hill section of the vineyard, which overlooks the Sonoma Valley. This 2014 Durell Chardonnay ranks among the best they have ever produced. “This has the classic seamless, almost oily palate weight and texture to it that the best Durells have but with a thread of focus that helps to pull the intensity of the palate together. This shows mandarin oranges, stone fruits and an almost cut wet grass note to it.

2014 Dolce, Far Niente
£9750Add to BasketDolce is Napa’s true Sauternes-style dessert wine. Dolce embraces the pursuit of perfection in the art of late harvest winemaking. Created in 1985 by the partners of Far Niente, Dolce stands as a standard-bearer for this type of wine in America. With a classic blend of late harvest Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc inspired by the Sauternes region, Dolce is the only American winery dedicated to producing a single late harvest wine.
After nearly three years in French oak, this luxurious vintage shows lifted and youthful aromas of orange zest, vanilla bean and butterscotch with subtle notes of minerality and oak-derived spices. The entry is juicy, and Dolce’s signature texture is lively and enduring on the palate leading to a mouthwatering finish. Flavours of orange, pear and dried apricot mingle together with rich caramel notes and hints of minerals that make this vintage a delicious expression of the season’s exceptional ripeness.
Dolce’s 20 acres of vineyard are located in Coombsville, east of the city of Napa, and are situated at the base of the Vaca Mountains, which define the eastern border of the valley. The volcanic soil is loose and well-drained, and the west-facing vineyard is protected from the prevailing winds so that the damp, morning fog of autumn (a very important factor in the development of Botrytis cinerea) hangs longer amongst the vines, often until midday. A combination of high humidity followed by drying conditions encourages, but does not guarantee, the growth of Botrytis. As it develops, its coverage is seemingly random with individual berries succumbing to Botrytis at different rates, if at all.

It is a sunny plot with a southeastern exposure that receives cooling breezes, which flow from the bottom of the valley. The soil is complex, ranging from limestone from Dijon to decarbonated silt. The vineyard is cultivated organically, without the use of herbicides and insecticides and will be certified from the 2019 vintage.

2008 Côte-Rôtie, Blonde du Seigneur, Georges Vernay
£9900Add to BasketAlthough Domaine Georges Vernay has built its reputation around its excellent Condrieu white wines, its reds should not be neglected, especially ones from the Côte-Rôtie. From a 5 ha plot of vines, Vernay’s Côte-Rôtie is amongst the most exceptional wines from the same appellation. Thanks to a perfectly mastered elegant wine style, Christine Vernay successfully expresses the elegance and depth of syrah; never over maturing or over ageing.
The 2008 Blonde du Seigneur is wonderfully refined. Seductive nose with smoked lard, pepper and juicy notes. Magnificently dense on the palate, with great depth, style and longevity. A very elegant, classic wine
Côte Rôtie is a prestigious red wine appellation at the northern tip of the Rhône Valley wine region, where the vineyards are situated on steep slopes (the Côtes). Due to these steep slopes the 30-year-old vines are maintained manually, without the use of weed killers and all treatments use organic products.
